From the title, you're probably already guessing what I'm trying to say, you might probably be right depending on what exactly you are thinking. I remember my appreciation at the beginning of the year which was dedicated to three people in my life that made 2023 worth it. Two of those people happen to be ladies and the other a guy. This year, apart from my sister there are now only two people that made 2024 worth it. One of them being the guy in that 2023 post, and another being one of the ladies in that post. It turned out that I had a fallout with one of the other ladies because I was courting her then only to find out she never really saw me in that light. Although it was a painful moment for me after investing a lot thinking I had found the right person for me, only to discover I was being led on.

I decided to take it all in good faith and move on, which by the way wasn't easy. But then there was this other person who was always there. Infact, we have known each for over 6 years before now and I knew she had a crush on me then but saw her as a teenager who was still growing up. She was with me as a friend through my last two failed relationships and was still friends with me regardless. She took me as a big brother and would often tell me everything going on in her life. To say the truth I was over and done with all the heart breaks and was just grateful to have had a friend who was always there for me. The only issue was that although we were close, we had not seen each other in almost 5 years but didn't really mind because we communicated frequently.
One day she called me up that she was coming to Port Harcourt (my city of residence) for a wedding and needed a place to stay for the weekend knowing my younger sister was around. I agreed and when she came, that was when I finally noticed her. She doesn't know this, but a friend of mine who knows about her came around that day and we went out for a stroll, he asked me if I was alright at all, stating that I allowed myself go through all those heart breaks when everything I was looking for in a woman had been by my side all this while. I told him I was just noticing it when she came but didn't want to rush into things just yet. Turned out she had to prolong her stay a bit in order to take care of other personal issues that came up after the weekend. It was then I decided to finally talk to her about it and to my surprise she gave me a straight no.
I wasn't worried though, I told her I wasn't pushing and it shouldn't change the fact that we are still friends. I had also told myself I wasn't going to try to force anything by remembering my last experience, and after some days she called asking what I really wanted from her and if I was serious about everything I said. I had to make her understand she had known me all these years and knew I wasn't one to play with people's feelings. Well long story short she only managed to drag her answer for two days until she finally said yes. I guess this was the best yes anyone has ever told me, and it's been a great experience afterwards. I'm glad my long time friend is now my partner and God willing we will make it official soon hehe…😁
