When I finished from the higher institution I was looking for a job just anything to survive on. It was pretty rough during those moments, but I'm happy I was able to get things right and go at the end of the day. Although before I graduated I had a lot of projects I was working on, they were projects that exposed me to a lot of things in the business world which made it easier for me to find jobs when a lot of my mates couldn't due to lack of experience. I must admit even with the experience, finding a job in my country is very challenging, and once you are able to, you hold on to it with both hands. Sometimes the jobs may not be even worth it (like the ones I got during my time in school) but you just have to keep them to gather experience.
Today I have more than 6 years of experience as a digital marketer in social media management and in the last 3 years I've worked on a lot of projects that required web design and development. I'm currently working for an oil and gas firm that is into sales procurement and distribution of NDT products and services. I take the role of the head of the ICT department and now double as the digital marketer/ social media manager under the business development department. Working under these two departments has been really challenging for me, but I try as much as possible to keep things going.
My job description is as complex as it is simple. As the head of ICT department all companies ICT equipment are under my care, I also ensure that our Internet and Ethernet personnels do their jobs with the utmost diligence, while I work on all the company's websites. As the social media manager I work with the sales team to strategize new marketing techniques and find a way to sell the company's products and services online. It is also my duty to keep the company's online presence active and without compromise. Doing all these things everyday can be enjoyable and at the same time stressful, but I try to do my best.
