What an event UFC 307 gave us! It was undoubtedly a high-level card, and although it was excellent, it left some doubts regarding the judges' decisions, especially in the fight involving the legend José Aldo. But we’ll get to that later.
Alex Pereira vs Khalil Rountree
The main event of the night between the legend Pereira and Khalil was undoubtedly one of the best fights, if not the best. A bloody fight with opportunities for both to finish the match quickly since both have immense power in their punches.
Pereira's strategy was to let the minutes pass and have Rountree expend all his energy until he was exhausted, then attack him when he was out of breath and power, making him an easier target. The strategy worked extremely well. Khalil had no chance as the fight wore on, looking very tired, and Pereira's power became evident with every punch, showing that the gap in skill between the two fighters was significant. Pereira was clearly superior.
Rountree should also be praised, as he proved to be someone to watch out for. He'll be dangerous for anyone who dares to challenge him, having put on a good showing against the champion, even knocking him down with a couple of punches. I believe Khalil's career can only go up from here.
Raquel Pennington vs Julianna Peña
This fight perhaps raised many questions about the champion, Pennington. Julianna Peña had been inactive for quite some time, yet she managed to put Raquel in serious trouble, especially when she took her to the ground and nearly submitted her.
All credit to Peña, who looked in great shape despite her long absence from the octagon. She fought as if there had been no time off, managing to compete for five rounds without showing any signs of poor physical condition.
This is where I believe the judges were wrong (in my opinion). While it's true that Julianna nearly submitted Raquel and the fight was very close, I think Pennington should have won the fight and retained her belt. In my view, Raquel won three of the five rounds. And although they were close rounds, the champion should have emerged victorious.
José Aldo vs Mario Bautista
Time waits for no one, and it seemed like time had caught up with José Aldo. After his loss to Conor McGregor, it seemed like his career was over. Several consecutive defeats against fighters who shouldn't have been a problem for Aldo led people to think he was ready for retirement.
However, yesterday's fight against Mario Bautista showed that Aldo still has fuel in the tank. He can still put up a fight, and even though he may no longer be as dominant as before, he remains a dangerous fighter.
Mario Bautista is a relentless fighter, with all due respect—a fighter who constantly moves forward and is very brave, not to mention the power in his punches. Again, the judges made a mistake here. Hall-of-famer José Aldo should have had his hand raised at the end of the fight. I don’t know what the judges saw, but Bautista winning the fight raises many questions. It was a huge mistake. Although Bautista managed to score some points in the fight, it wasn’t enough to win.
As I said, beyond the judges' mistakes—which, let’s face it, are part of the sport—UFC continues to deliver spectacular cards, showcasing real battles between modern-day gladiators.

¡Vaya cartelera que nos regaló la UFC 307! Sin dudas, fue una cartelera de grandísimo nivel, aunque dejó algunas dudas respecto a las decisiones que dieron los jueces, especialmente en la pelea de la leyenda José Aldo. Pero de eso ya hablaremos más adelante.
Alex Pereira vs Khalil Rountree
La pelea estelar de la noche entre la leyenda Pereira y Khalil fue, sin duda, una de las mejores de la noche, si no la mejor. Fue una pelea sangrienta, con ocasiones para que ambos pudieran terminar el combate de manera rápida, ya que ambos tienen mucha potencia en los puños.
La estrategia de Pereira fue dejar que los minutos pasaran y que Rountree gastara toda su energía hasta terminar agotado, sin aire ni fuerzas, para entonces golpearlo, pues sería un blanco más fácil. Hay que decir que la estrategia le salió extremadamente bien. Khalil no tuvo ninguna opción mientras pasaban los minutos, se veía muy cansado, y el poder de Pereira salió a relucir, ya que con cada golpe se notaba que los niveles entre ambos luchadores eran muy diferentes. Pereira fue claramente superior.
También hay que alabar a Rountree, pues demostró que es alguien a quien se debe tener en cuenta y que será muy peligroso para quien quiera retarlo. Hizo una buena exhibición contra el campeón y, con un par de golpes, logró derribarlo. Creo que la carrera de Khalil solo puede ir hacia arriba.
Raquel Pennington vs Julianna Peña
Quizás esta pelea dejó muchas dudas sobre la campeona Pennington, ya que Julianna Peña venía de mucho tiempo de inactividad y, aun así, puso en serios aprietos a Raquel, quien estuvo en malas condiciones cuando Peña la llevó al suelo y parecía que podría someterla.

José Aldo vs Mario Bautista
Los años no pasan en vano, y pareciera que ya le habían pasado factura a José Aldo, pues después de la derrota contra Conor McGregor, su carrera parecía haber terminado. Varias derrotas seguidas contra luchadores que no debieron ser un problema para él hicieron que muchos pensaran que Aldo estaba listo para el retiro.
Sin embargo, la pelea de ayer contra Mario Bautista demostró que aún hay gasolina en el tanque de Aldo, y que puede seguir dando batalla. A pesar de que ya no es tan demoledor como antes, sigue siendo un peleador muy peligroso.
