The New Soulbound Reward Cards Are Coming! Start: August 15 + My Strategy about Old Soulbound Reward Cards!
A few hours ago Splinterlands published a post in which announced the date when the new Soulbound Reward cards will be released: on August 15, 2024 at the same time as the start of the new season.
The release of the new Soulbound Reward cards will produce the out-of-print status of the old Soulbound Reward cards, which can no longer be found in the Draws available for purchase in the Reward Shop.
The old Soulbound Reward cards will be able to be unlocked (unbinding operation) to become transferable , saleable and usable in the lands by paying a cost in DEC tokens.
The new Soulbound Reward Cards will be part of the Rebellion set while the old ones are part of the Chaos Legion set.
The new Soulbound Reward Cards will have the same number and rarity as the old Soulbound Reward cards.
The new Soulboung Reward cards will add new game dynamics because they will introduce:
- 4 new abilities
- 4 Debilitations (brand new because debilitations are not there right now)
The unbound (or unbind) operation will have a cost in DEC tokens that will vary based on:
- to the rarity of the card = Power attribute of the card
- to the timing at which the unbound operation is performed.
As a practical example I consider the soulbound common rarity card from the Chaos Legion Coastal Sentry set.
If for hypothetical purposes on August 15 I wanted to unlock (unbind) the level 10 Soulbound Coastal Sentry card and the value of the DEC tokens remained the same as its value today I would have to spend:
My Strategy about Old Soulbound Reward Cards
Splinterlands is my favorite blockchain-based game because it is a fun game for me but I will not be doing the Unbind operation for my Soulbound cards of the Chaos Legion set.
I have expressed several times in my previous posts my concerns about the negative effect of bots in wild format and wild pass on cards that cannot be used in Modern Format.
Why should I spend DEC tokens on cards that when they come out of Modern Format will most likely lose value?
I am a player who loves to play on Splinterlands and I am not a collector!
For me a card that is not useful in the game and that I cannot use in battle against real players has no value!
That is why I am not going to spend my DEC tokens to unbind cards that, when and if the new set is released, I will not be able to use in Modern Format against real players like me.
Even though I will not unbind my Soulbound Reward Cards there are cards that I use a lot in battle and for this reason before August 15, 2024 I will try to make progress in upgrading these cards.
Before I knew the release date of the new Soulbound Reward cards my strategy was to use all my GLINT to buy Rare Draws because I wanted to get all the soulbound summoners to the maximum level first.
That is why at the beginning of each season I would buy 100 Rare Draws and then wait until the beginning of the next season to buy another 100 Rare Draws and avoid the cost increase for Draws after the 100th draw.
And that is exactly what I did at the beginning of the current season, I purchased 100 Rare Draws in two 50 DRAW purchases and combined the BCXs of the cards I found inside.

With the cards I found within the 100 Draws, I completed the upgrade of War Pegasus.
I have completed the upgrade to the maximum level of 9 out of 12 soulbound rare cards but I still have 3 cards left to upgrade to the maximum level:
- Ravenhood Warden: I am missing 1 BCX
- Octavia Shadowmeld: I am missing 3 BCX
- Helios Matriarch: i am missing 2 BCX
This season I will change my strategy and until I upgrade these three cards to the maximum level I will continue to spend the GLINT I earn from my playing activity in the Modern Format to purchase Rare Draws even though their cost has increased from 500 GLINT to 750 GLINT.
When I have completed the ugrade of the Chaos Legion Soulbound rare cards I will try to buy as many Legendary Draw as possible to try to do some level upgrades of my legendary soulbound cards where I am however missing a lot of BCX and in all likelihood I will not be able to complete any of my upgrade goals because I would need a lot of GLINT and especially a lot of time to accumulate them but August 15 is near.

Poce ore fa Splinterlands ha pubblicato un post in cui ha annunciato la data in cui saranno rilasciate le nuove Soulbound Reward cards: il 15 agosto 2024 contestualmente all'inizio della nuova stagione.
Il rilascio delle nuove Soulbound Reward cards produrrà lo stato di out of print delle vecchie Soulbound Reward cards che non potranno essere più trovate nei Draws acquistabili nel Reward Shop.
Le vecchie Soulbound Reward cards potranno essere sbloccate (operazione di unbinding) per diventare trasferibili , vendibili e utilizzabili nelle lands pagando un costo in token DEC.
Le nuove Soulbound Reward Cards faranno parte del set Rebellion mentre le vecchie facevano parte del set Chaos Legion.
Le nuove Soulbound Reward Cards avranno lo stesso numero e rarità delle vecchie Soulbound Reward cards.
Le nuove Soulboung Reward cards aggiungeranno nuove dinamiche di gioco perchè introdurranno:
- 4 nuove abilità
- 4 Debilitations (novità assoluta perchè le debilitations non ci sono in questo momento)
L'operazione di unbound (o unbind) avrà un costo in token DEC che varierà in base:
- alla rarità della carta = attributo Power della carta
- al timing in cui viene effettuata l'operazione di unbound.
Per fare un esempio pratico prendo in considerazione la carta di rarità comune soulbound del set Chaos Legion Coastal Sentry.
Se per ipotesi il 15 agosto volessi sbloccare (unbind) la carta Soulbound Coastal Sentry di livello 10 e il valore dei token DEC rimanesse uguale al valore che ha oggi dovrei spendere:
La mia strategia per le carte Soulbound del set Chaos Legion
Splinterlands è il mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito perchè è un gioco divertente per me ma non farò l'operazione di Unbind per le mie carte Soulbound del set Chaos Legion.
Ho espresso più volte nei miei precedenti posts le mie preoccupazioni per l'effetto negativo dei bots nel wild format e del wild pass sulle carte che non possono essere utilizzate nel Modern Format.
Perchè dovrei spendere dei token DEC per delle carte che quando usciranno dal Modern Format con molta probabilità perderanno valore?
Io sono un giocatore che ama giocare su Splinterlands e non sono un collezionista!
Per me una carta che non è utile nel gioco e che non posso usare in battaglia contro giocatori reali non ha valore!
Per questo motivo non intendo spendere i miei token DEC per fare l'unbind di carte che, quando e se sarà rilasciato il nuovo set, non potrò utilizzare nel Modern Format contro giocatori reali come me.
Anche se non farò l'unbind delle mie Soulbound Reward Cards ci sono carte che uso molto in battaglia e per questo motivo prima del 15 agosto 2024 cercherò di fare dei progressi nell'upgrade di queste carte.
Prima di conoscere la data del rilascio delle nuove Soulbound Reward cards la mia strategia era di utilizzare tutti i miei GLINT per acquistare i Rare Draws perchè volevo portare al massimo livello prima tutti gli evocatori soulbound.
Per questo motivo ad ogni inizio stagione acquistavo 100 Rare Draws per poi aspettare l'inizio della stagione successiva per acquistare altri 100 Rare Draws ed evitare l'aumento di costo per i Draws successivi al centesimo.
Ed è esattamente quello che ho fatto all'inizio della stagione in corso, ho acquistato 100 Rare Draws in due acquisti da 50 DRAW e ho combinato i BCX delle carte che ho trovato all'interno.

Con le carte che ho trovato all'interno dei 100 Draws ho completato l'upgrade di War Pegasus.
Ho completato l'upgrade al massimo livello di 9 carte soulbound rare su 12 ma mi mancano ancora 3 carte da portare al massimo livello:
- Ravenhood Warden: mi manca 1 BCX
- Octavia Shadowmeld: mi mancano 3 BCX
- Helios Matriarch: mi mancano 2 BCX
In questa stagione cambierò la mia strategia e fin quando non avrò portato queste tre carte al massimo livello continuerò a spendere i GLINT che guadagnerò dalla mia attività di gioco nel Modern Format per acquistare i Rare Draws anche se il loro costo è aumentato da 500 GLINT a 750 GLINT.
Quando avrò completato l'ugrade delle carte Chaos Legion Soulbound rare proverò ad acquistare il maggior numero possibile di Legendary Draw per provare a fare qualche upgrade del livello delle mie carte soulbound leggendarie dove però mi mancano molti BCX e con molta probabilità non riuscirò a completare nessuno dei miei obiettivi di upgrade perchè avrei bisogno di tanti GLINT e soprattutto di tanto tempo per accumularli ma il 15 agosto è vicino.
