Hello, friends of Wednesday Walk!
As every week, I join the challenge as every week proposed by my friend @tattoodjay. On this occasion, I want to share with you some photos I took in Havana, very close to the Malecón. I was making time while waiting for my son, who had an appointment at the Spanish Embassy to get his visa and be able to join his wife, who has been living in Spain for two years.

Como cada semana, me uno al reto como cada semana que os propone el amigo @tattoodjay. En esta ocasión, quiero compartir con ustedes algunas fotos que tomé en La Habana, muy cerca del Malecón. Estaba haciendo tiempo mientras esperaba a mi hijo, quien tenía una cita en la Embajada Española para obtener su visa y poder reunirse con su esposa, que lleva dos años viviendo en España.
The Spanish Embassy is an imposing building and one of my favorites for its architectural style. While many institutions are in modern buildings, I love that the Spanish Embassy preserves the genuine colonial style, perfectly preserved. This building was the former Velasco-Sarrá Palace, one of the most beautiful. On this occasion, I noticed that it had some balconies with mesh, perhaps for some repair or to protect from soot, as it is a very busy area. It is an example of Art Nouveau.
La Embajada Española es una edificación imponente y una de mis favoritas por su estilo arquitectónico. Mientras muchas instituciones están en edificios modernos, me encanta que la de España conserve el genuino estilo colonial, perfectamente conservado. Este edificio fue el antiguo Palacio Velasco-Sarrá, uno de los más bellos. En esta ocasión, noté que tenía unos balcones con mallas, quizás por alguna reparación o para protegerse del hollín, ya que es una zona muy transitada. Es un ejemplo del Art Nouveau.
A little further on is the Gran Packar Hotel and, across the avenue in front of the Malecón, is the Paseo del Prado Hotel. Both are five-star hotels, belonging to different hotel chains, but they enjoy great prestige and have a beautiful view of the Malecon and the entrance to the Bay.
Un poco más allá se encuentra el Hotel Gran Packar y, cruzando la avenida frente al Malecón, está el Hotel Paseo del Prado. Ambos son hoteles de cinco estrellas, pertenecientes a diferentes cadenas hoteleras, pero gozan de gran prestigio y tienen una vista hermosa sobre el Malecón y la entrada de la Bahía.
In front of these hotels is the Castillo de Salvador de la Punta, now a museum. It was built around 1600 as part of the defensive system of the city, highly coveted by corsairs and pirates due to its location. It retains its old construction although it has been remodeled taking care not to change anything, tourists really like to visit it, it is part of our history.
Frente a estos hoteles se encuentra el Castillo de Salvador de la Punta, actualmente museo. Fue construido hacia 1600 como parte del sistema defensivo de la ciudad, muy codiciada por corsarios y piratas debido a su ubicación. Conserva su contruccion de antaño aunque ha sido remosado cuidando no cambiar nada , a los turistas lesgusta mucho visitarlo, es parte de nuestra historia
I continued walking past the entrance to the Bay Tunnel and arrived in front of the Music Museum, a very elegant building with an eclectic style from the early 20th century. If it had been open, I would have gone in, as I have been several times and never been able to get in. It is one of the museums that most arouses my curiosity. Just seeing the construction of the building makes me imagine the great musical treasures it holds. It has a hallway with many columns and arches, a large door with knockers in the center and a sequence of very fine chandeliers.
Seguí caminando hasta pasar la entrada del Túnel de la Bahía y llegué frente al Museo de la Música, un edificio muy elegante con un estilo ecléctico de principios del siglo XX. Si hubiera estado abierto, habría entrado, ya que he estado varias veces y nunca he podido entrar. Es uno de los museos que más despierta mi curiosidad. Sólo ver la construcción del edificio me hace imaginar los grandes tesoros musicales que guarda. Tiene un pasillo con muchas columnas y arcos, una gran puerta con aldabas en el centro y una secuencia de lámparas muy finas.
After this tour of the surroundings, I returned to the outskirts of the embassy. My son had already finished and, to get to him, I went through one of the auxiliary tunnels that give access to the city from the central tunnel.
Tras este recorrido por los alrededores, regresé a las afueras de la embajada. Mi hijo ya había terminado y, para llegar hasta él, pasé por sobre uno de los túneles auxiliares que dan acceso a la ciudad desde el túnel central.
We got on the bike, since my son was dropping me off at my work, which is a bit far away and although we were in a hurry I continued taking pictures along the avenue, this is one of the most beautiful areas of the city and I could not miss the opportunity.
Nos montamos en la moto, ya que mi hijo me dejaba en mi trabajo, que está un poco lejos y aunque teníamos prisa seguí haciendo fotos por la avenida, es una de las zonas más bonitas de la ciudad y no podía dejar pasar la oportunidad.
