This visit was in the middle of January… a lovely winter’s day in Scotland 🏴 No #snow anymore in this region. We did see lots of #ICE 🧊 still in different parts.
Let’s put on some sturdy walking boots 🥾 as the ground is uneven and very icy 🥶
Here we go….
Just before some wooden steps down to a viewing platform next to the bridge we find this sign :
It has information about the packhorse bridge on it.
On top of the wooden steps we see this beautiful view towards the bridge.
Walking down slowly on the icy 🥶 steps we have a better view of the #packhorse bridge.
The water of the river is dark and very cold. It runs fast if you look closely 😎
Amazing that the bridge is still well preserved after so many years… hundreds of years.
We can’t walk all the way down to the viewing platform. It is too slippery with a thick layer of ice. So we hang over the wooden balustrade to capture a few more photos.
Back at the top of the steps we see we can walk towards the bridge a bit more and take in this view. The bridge itself is to unstable to go onto so we so stay behind the wooden fence. We see more ice just before the stones and bridge itself. Where water puddles up. 🧊❄️
A view along the road behind us. Cute little cottages in the little village of Carrbridge.
Walking towards the road bridge we have a better view at the old bridge.
A view of the viewing platform below… the white at the bottom is the thick layer of ice (bottom left 👇🏻) that made it impossible for us to stand on.
The sound of the water is wonderful… the melted snow and ice makes it run very fast in the winter.
Zooming out a bit. You can see the old bridge very well. What a great form, and so steep. 😳 My favourite photo of today 👇🏻😁
Luckily the horses, back in the days, helped people cross it.
Wandering further along the bridge over the road. You see the village in the distance.
On the side there is a path… we walk over it and end up on the other side of the river.
I take a photo through the trees. We are at the foot of the bridge on the other side of the river.
This walking path is the RIVERSIDE PATH created in 2010.
We look at the bridge from this side. More trees along the river. It does give our view of the bridge something special. Don’t you think?
Also here there is a wooden fence.
We walk back towards the road, on the other side of the road bridge we see some houses on the left. They have such a beautiful view on the river 🥰
A little bit further I notice something. Let’s check it out.
Across from it we see more buildings of the village.
We walk towards the #sculpture. It is carved out of a tree. 🌳 Look how happy the face is. I like his long beard…
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
