Hello there! My name is Luthis Cano. I am 40 years old and from the Golden City of Friendship in the heart of Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. We are 3 in the family and I am the "bunso" youngest. I also have 3 half-sisters. And that makes us a total of 6 siblings.
These are the things that I love. First is music. Even when I was still young, I listened to old songs that my brother listened to. I always sing to the tune, but I am not a good singer. It's just that listening and singing to songs calms my heart and mind. The second is taking care of my dogs. We have at least six dogs here at home. We love our dogs, bathe them, and feed them.
This is where I live now. It's very peaceful, and only dogs and frogs are noisy, especially at night. This is the rice field, and the man is clearing the area using a machine they call "a turtle." After a couple of days, they will be ready to plant again.
I also love to travel, but my travel is like strolling within the city only when my neighbor goes out and I do not have anything to do. I will hitch a ride in her pickup and just sit there while she does her work. After all, my lunch and snacks are free for the day. I also love to help other people when I see that they need help. I am simple and find joy in every little thing.
Now let me share with you my other sad life story.
I lost my job last 2023, my little earnings have made me put up a small business but eventually, I decided to close it down for my dream of going to work in Europe.
That is why last May 2024 I decided to pursue work in Europe. I sold my only source of income my L300 and applied for a work visa. Unfortunately, on July 26, 2024, I received the most heartbreaking and painful news in my whole life: my visa was rejected. I was so emotional leaving me financially strained.
When I almost hit rock bottom, I saw this Facebook ad that said you can be an online English teacher without a degree in education. Right there and then, I joined and I am now part of that ESL community. It's hard at first but it's all worth it and very rewarding. After the hard work and slowly being able to grasp the beauty of teaching online all I can say this is it. This new career path has not only provided me financially but also given me a sense of purpose in life. Maybe working in Europe is not for me this year probably in the next coming years.
As I embark on this new chapter, I would like to thank you for accepting me on this platform and I am motivated by all the people who are with me in this journey.
