House hunting in Miri, Sarawak

in #hive-14135920 days ago

Hi hi morning, this is a post about my house-hunting journey here in Miri. Currently, I am living in my mom’s house. So I went house hunting. I am looking for a house that I could at this point of time earn some money from. So, if you want to look at what Miri’s houses are like and the price, you can check out this post. I have already checked out more than 10 houses and currently applying for a loan for a house. Still waiting for it to be approved. And in case you are wondering how much a house costs here in Miri.

Sarawak has some of the highest housing prices in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur, the capital, and Selangor. From what I can conservatively predict is that house prices in the future are unaffordable and many will look to rent instead. So at this point of time, I can still roughly buy a house, so I will do it at this point of time to rent it out.

The toilet at this house.

One type of toilet that my wife doesn't like is the squat type. Normally, these days, most houses in Miri have sitting toilets. The tiles of this toilet tell me that this toilet still has the original tiles. These tiles are a couple of decades old. Nowadays, most toilets have larger tiles.

The next thing I look for is the neighborhood.

Is it a quiet area? The crime rate. The location. I am looking for a place that is not too far away from the city.

That house behind this house is three stories high. The house next to this house has been abandoned for quite a long time. What is the price of this house?

MYR 580k or around USD 120 K.

The house next to this house is a detached house and the owner is quite wealthy so he has been leaving it empty. I asked the neighbor.

This is the house from the outside. Semi-detached with lots of land beside.

The other washroom. Squat toilets. The best thing to do is to sit there and play with my phone while I do my big business.

The garden

The owner did not cut the grass. There is enough area to plant some vegetation.

The living room

Some of the ceiling has fallen. One thing I noticed about this house is that there are lots of corners here and there.

The kitchen area

This was one of the houses that I went and visited. Why am I buying an old house rather than a new one? I can renovate this house to my liking and it is much cheaper and closer to the city area. Most areas around the city area developed. I think I prefer convenience. I want a place where I do not need to rush to the city if I need anything and is easily rentable.

Will be posting the next couple of houses here in the next couple of post. I am still waiting for my loan to see if it gets approved or not.

The house looks good, and if its me too, I prefer buying lot with an old house. At least it will be cheaper compare to the newly built one.
