Big does not always mean success. Today, I am going to bring you on a visit to this particular mall that is new but unfortunately has been abandoned.
While I was in Bintulu this is one big mall that has failed to attract enough customers here. I am from Miri which is another district of Sarawak and I recently went to Bintulu.
At first glance, as you walk into the mall, it is huge.
There is no end to be seen. No air conditioning system running. It has that open-air concept. One key ingredient seems to be missing. The people. Not many customers here. I guess, malls are not easy businesses to run.

As I walked around, I noticed a lot of shops that are for rent and not open for business at all.
The Christmas decor area. Looks quite sad. I guess they knew that this mall wasn’t going to attract many customers so they did not spend much time at the display.
The floors are quite clean.
Some stalls that are nearer to the main entrance are open for business. There are also still a couple of storeys up from this mall. I went and check them out and there nothing there.
A handicraft shop known as Handicraft House
A lot of the handicrafts in this shop are hand-crafted. If tourists visit this shop, they will find lots of hidden gems from Sarawak.
Labubus is quite trendy in Malaysia these days. So at most places, you can see Labubu-related merchandise being sold around the market.
Lots of Chinese lanterns are up in preparation for the Chinese New Year celebration. I am not sure if in the next couple of weeks when Chinese New Year comes, this place is going to light up.

There are lots of new development areas here around this building. Bintulu is an industrial hub here in Sarawak and lots of development is constantly occurring.

This mall is huge but unfortunately, the population hasn't increased a lot around this area to boost the business here.
