What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

After playtime at Braidwood, we zipped through Wilmington to Joliet. Besides Chicago, Joliet is the other place where it makes sense to honor The Blues Brothers with statuary. Dick's Towing Service featured old-style cop cars.

🏍️ Joliet is a short distance from Chicago. It's also where the prison is located when we see The Blues Brothers at the start of the 1980 self-titled movie.

Romeoville is the last town of note before we reach Chicago, the eastern terminus of Route 66. We decided to top up our tanks before riding the final stretch of "Route 66". With Route 66's end nearing, the mood was a bit sad.

🏍️ At this point, the only thing Felix Legion could do was continue to Chicago. Although Felix Legion had been riding much farther than the daily goal of 120 miles, on this day the ride would end on reaching Chicago, more than 220 miles from the day's starting point of Springfield.

"After today," said Frank, "the whimsy of Route 66 is over."
"It was like going back in time," added Lionel.
The rest of us nodded, including me. Then Sanjay said what had been left unsaid.

🏍️ Although everyone in Felix Legion knew this moment would arrive, they still weren't prepared emotionally for its arrival. Riding the last 220 miles of the iconic Route 66 didn't feel anything like riding the previous miles going back all the way to Santa Monica in Los Angeles. Once the Route 66 segment of David Guardia's Epic Ride is done, the next segment contains the first stop where the crew breaks up once The Kids return to UNC.

We all looked at Sanjay, especially Lindsay. Going forward, UNC would be a major milestone for us because it would be the beginning of the end of the ride for Felix Legion. From there, we go our separate ways.

🏍️ University of North Carolina is the end of the ride for Sanjay Rampersad of India and Lionel Odunsi of Nigeria. From there, the remaining five members of Fekix Legion ride westward to various destinations in Iowa. Given David Guardia's status as husband to Rhonda Bella Guardia, his new home is wherever the former Rhonda Bella is.

From Romeoville, we were over 31 miles both from Chicago and the end of our ride on Route 66. We would stay on the Barack Obama Presidential Exp. portion of I-55 until we passed near Burr Ridge. Then we stayed on Old Route 66.

🏍️ Old Route 66 snakes in and out of the path defined by the Barack Obama Presidential Expressway portion of Interstate 55. Once Felix Legion reaches Burr Ridge, the road named Old Route 66 remains separate from the highways and Interstate roads.

From Burr Ridge we rode Old Route 66 until reaching LaGrange Road, which we rode to 55th St. Riding east on 55th St. took us back to Old Route 66. For a short time we rode on Harlem Avenue before getting back on Old Route 66.

🏍️ Because of the way the area is laid out on maps of all kinds, there was a gap dividing Old Route 66. For this reason, Felix Legion needed to ride on the streets before returning to Old Route 66 at the earliest opportunity.

This zapfic entry also starts the "A" storyline where we see independent journalist [Aníbal Rivera](https://inleo.io/@magnacarta/re-magnacarta-j9thfrrl) doing his job by interviewing one of the principals involved in a shooting incident turned into a random killing. This incident, and its associated circumstances, touched off a mass demonstration unlike those of recent years. Gang leaders are involved, but it was not gang-related crime. More details appear in later zapfic entries.

After returning to Old Route 66 at Harlem Ave., we rode through Cicero, one of the better known suburbs of Chicago. Once we crossed Cicero Avenue, we entered Chicago city limits. We were reaching the end of our ride on Route 66.

🏍️ This is the first zapfic entry of the "B" storyline. Here, Felix Legion arrives in Chicago and finds itself close to the end of the line as far as Route 66 is concerned. Later zapfic entries for the "B" storyline show how Felix Legion ends up at the Obama Presidential Library, where David delivers a prophecy to both residents of Chicago and the city's civic leaders. When Felix Legion reaches the OPL, the "A" and "B" storylines converge and we're back to one zapfic entry per day.
