Friends, it's been a long time since I've posted a movie review but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review a film that I saw on Mother's Day with mine, a film a little old but that serves quite well to pass the time.
Amigos hace mucho tiempo que no publico una review de películas pero no podía dejar pasar la ocasión de reseñar un film que vi el día de las madres junto a la mía, una película un poco antigua pero que sirve bastante bien para pasar el rato.
Overview/Resumen
This film is an adaptation of a Broadway musical based on the songs of Abba, the Swedish pop music band of the 70s. It brings us the story of Donna who is organizing the wedding of her only daughter but suddenly, and for the purpose of the event, three men come into her life who were very important to her as she was romantically involved with each of them although at different times in her life obviously, and in fact her daughter knows that one of them may be her father and that is why she invited them to the wedding. The rest of the story is told in the style of all musicals, using Abba's songs to set the mood, plus the lyrics go very well with each scene they want to represent.
Esta película es una adaptación de un musical de Broadway basado en las canciones de Abba, la banda sueca de musica pop de los años 70. Nos trae la historia de Donna que está organizando la boda de su única hija pero de pronto, y a propósito del evento, llegan a su vida tres hombres que fueron muy importantes para ella ya que estuvo involucrada sentimentalmente con cada uno de ellos aunque en diferentes épocas de su vida obviamente, y de hecho su hija sabe que uno de ellos puede ser su padre y por eso los invitó a la boda. El resto de la historia es contada al estilo de todos los musicales, usando las canciones de Abba para ambientar, además de que la letra va muy bien con cada escena que quieren representar.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
To be completely honest with you, I am not a fan of musicals, but still I could not resist this one because I love Abba and I wanted to see what they had done with their songs in this film and the truth is that although it does not have a very deep story I think it is a film to have a good time, it is entertaining and has several funny scenes that I enjoyed a lot, the cast is great, we can see Meryl Streep Pirce Brosnan, Colin Firth and of course Julie Walters who I became very fond of through her most emblematic character, Mrs. Weasley in Harry Potter, the locations are beautiful, as they are beautiful Greek landscapes that invite you to relax and the songs are perfectly adapted to each scene, being my favorites Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Chiquitita, especially the latter, where Donna's friends try to lift her spirits.
Para ser completamente honesta con ustedes, no soy fan de los musicales, pero aún así no pude resistirme a este porque me encanta Abba y quise ver que habían hecho con sus canciones en este film y la verdad es que aunque no tiene una historia demasiado profunda opino que es un film para pasar un buen rato, es entretenido y tiene varias escenas graciosas que disfruté bastante, el elenco es grandioso, podemos ver a Meryl Streep Pirce Brosnan, Colin Firth y desde luego a Julie Walters a quien le tomé mucho cariño a través de su personaje más emblemático, La señora Weasley en Harry Potter, las locaciones son preciosas, ya que se tratan de preciosos paisajes griegos que invitan al relax y las canciones están perfectamente adaptadas a cada escena, siendo mis favoritas Dancing Queen, Mamma Mía y Chiquitita, sobre todo esta última, donde las amigas de Donna intentan levantar su ánimo.
As for the voices of the actors I can not say that they are the most virtuosic, however there is a scene where I think Meryl Streep put all her soul, is one where she sings The Winner takes it all, as it makes a good combination between her acting skills (which is her forte) and a beautiful voice, she has a very sweet tessitura, but she also knows how to interpret through her voice, she doesn't sing for the sake of singing, she gives the emphasis that each phrase requires and uses vocal resources to transmit the emotion that the character requires, you can notice that she worked a lot with a vocal coah, but at the same time you can also notice all her histrionic experience because it touches your soul.
En cuanto a las voces de los actores no puedo decir que sean las más virtuosas, , no obstante hay una escena en donde creo que Meryl Streep puso toda su alma, es una donde canta The Winner takes it all, ya que hace una buena combinación entre sus dotes como actriz (lo cual es su fuerte) y una hermosa voz, ella tiene una tesitura muy dulce, pero además sabe interpretar mediante su voz, no canta por cantar, le da el énfasis que requiere cada frase y utiliza recursos vocales para transmitir la emoción que requiere el personaje, se nota que trabajó mucho con un coah vocal, pero al mismo tiempo también se nota toda su experiencia histriónica porque te llega al alma.
I don't consider it the best movie in the world at all, but you can have a great time watching it, especially if you like Abba's songs and want to sing them at the top of your lungs while watching the movie, so I recommend it for a weekend. No considero que sea la mejor película del mundo para nada, pero puedes pasar un muy buen rato viéndola, sobre todo si te gustan las canciones de Abba y quieres cantarlas a todo pulmón mientras ves la peli, así que se las recomiendo para un finde semana.
