My sister invited us to have breakfast at La Bodeguilla at Lechería, Venezuela. It was perfect because I really like their treats. I come here because of their treats more than their coffee. Plus, with its fancy decorations for the Christmas season, a bit heavy, but certainly very, very festive, everything tastes better to me!
This coffee story begins well. It was a sunny day...
I couldn't help but smile when I saw the large Christmas wreath adorning the entrance. Normally, the Christmas atmosphere puts me in the mood for coffee and sweet treats. But this time it didn't. Coffee, yes. Sweets, no.
(Just look at the decorations you see as soon as you enter La Bodeguilla. Somebody was inspired, hehe.)
We sat near this Christmas arch, with its scarlet & pink, glitter, Christmas lights, floral and starry ornaments, which seemed to flash and flash and flash. Who said less is more, hehehe.
First of all, coffee. We ordered cappuccinos. They were good but not great. Treats here are great, though. So coffee is more like a plus to the treats. I'll tell you about the best coffee I've tried here in Lecheria some other time.
Some creamy coffee art is always welcome if you ask me. Ours were big size cappuccinos. They serve them with two sachets of sugar per constumer. I was the only one who used one; I drink my coffee without sugar, but if I order something with milk, you can be sure it's because I'm in the mood for something sweet. Also, I usually don't drink milk, but if I'm in a café, that might happen. I could've ordered a really good almond milk latte that they serve here, but what I'd order after it had manchego cheese, so it didn't make much sense to worry about lactose. Oh my, hehe.

Although I had left my house with the idea of having breakfast with cookies and coffee, as soon as I entered La Bodeguilla, the usual happened to me: I remembered their delicious croissant filled with prosciutto, manchego cheese, rugula, and sun-dried tomatoes. I almost never order it because usually the few times I come here it's for a snack because the treats here are some of the best in town, much better than their coffee--which is good, but not great, like I said--. Today, however, I came for breakfast.

Their treats are really tempting. If you try them, I'm sure you'll want to come for more.
My eyes always linger for a long time here in the mille-feuilles...
The more I looked at the cookies the more I felt like changing my mind and going for some of these 😋

In the end, I ordered the croissant I had been craving for a long time.
The dough was soft and fresh. It had a flaky crust. Delicious.
My sister and my dad ordered arepas (stuffed with shredded chicken and fried slices of ripe plantain).
I also had a glass of papaya juice and so did my dad. My sister had a freshly squeezed orange juice.
I'm coming back for cookies. Soon, I hope 😋 For a happier ending.
