It is not a new year anymore but I would like to talk about what my family and I did on New Year's Day 2025.
The entire duration of our stay in Negros, we stayed with my Papa and his second wife. They have a newly built house. Simple, very few neighbors, and a beautiful view. Our children liked it there. They wanted to go back and stay there for a time.
For our New Year's preparation, we did not prepare much food. I just made a simple dessert and my stepmother cooked spaghetti. We had a delicious last dinner for 2024 though. My stepmother's son cooked pork barbeque partnered with other viands and, of course, rice!
As the clock struck 12, we saw fireworks from afar. It was so amazing to see it. Our girls enjoyed watching it. My husband and my stepmother's son lighted some firecrackers too. But it was just a few.
We also took a New Year Photo! After listening to the noise outside and from afar, we retired to bed.
Every New Year's Day is memorable. My family is always reminded of my Mama's passing. She passed away when all of the world was celebrating the new year yet we were grieving. Years have passed and we have moved on, but her memory will always remain in our hearts.
On New Year's Day 2025, we had a simple lunch with two of my siblings and a friend. My husband, Jay, and I went to the market. We bought ingredients and cooked our lunch! My sister came over with her son and a friend. Our youngest brother also came with his son. We enjoyed each other's company then we headed to the cemetery to visit our dear mother's grave.

We ended the day with a simple dinner at our old home where our youngest brother and his family live.
Concluding thoughts...
It is not every year that we can visit my family in Negros. But it always brings me joy when we do. I will always treasure every minute I get to spend with them. In reality, my Papa is not getting younger. I will grab every chance to spend time with him and my siblings. Family is important to me. I am sure it is for you too!
I am grateful for families and the happiness it gives to us. There is no perfect family. We all have flaws. The important thing is we can overlook those imperfections and let love prevail in our homes. I got excited when we captured all our family members in one place and photo! You can read it here if you are interested. 😀
Thank you for reaching this far.
Until the next blog!
xoxo,
Met
