Leaving Home.

in #hive-1928063 months ago

The more I stayed, the longer it feels i might not find my way back home. Definitely not because home doesn't feel like home anymore but because have lost track of how it feels to be like home.
The fond memories of mum,
The cranky sounds of dad's bike upon his return
The noisy bustling voices of my siblings, that announces their return from school
The early morning smell of mum's savory rice with stew
The early morning family devotion that, i literally would doze off and on till the saying of the grace.
Dad's dry jokes and pep talks just to meet up with the lost time; he's hardly at home, work calls!
I missed these......... not home.
I obviously didn't missed the place but *my people".

Home isn't just a place but collective memories and feelings towards people that made home feels like one. It's a safe haven one can run to for safety; it's a place where you find peace in this hostile world. Simply put, home is people.

Mum wouldn't let go of my arms, though she isn't the hugging type. I was even more surprise when I saw her stretched her arms widely as she waited for me to fly right in. Without no further thought,I did. I hugged her so tightly while I rebuked the thought of its being my last hug with Mum.

Hey! take your balance, the bus conductor clamoured. My mind spontaneously jolted back from it wonderland, leaving me to face the new reality of my life ahead of me, being far from my dad, mum, siblings relatives and friends. Sadly, I don't really know when I'm gonna meet them all again. Going through each day without them by my side hasn't been so rosy as I envisaged, I miss them.

The song Pray for me by Darey has been my solace of late,it portrayed a guy leaving everything and everyone as he pursue a greener pasture at the city.
Here's part of the lyrics.

Woke up one Sunday morning
Told my daddy “I'm leaving home
I'm going off to the city tomorrow
Even though I don't know where to go”
Daddy said “Son, don't be a fool!
‘Cause life in the city is unbelievable
You could get broken, Oh, you're just a little boy!
And you may never find your way”
And I said “I know I could get lost, I know I could get broken
forgive me father but I've got to take a chance
Oh I'm already gone so just
Pray for me, (Gbàdúrà Fuń Mi) — same translation
Pray I find my way, k'ori bamise (that I may have good fate)
Oh! forgive me father, but I got to take a chance
Oh I'm already gone so just, pray for me

Have come to realise this, cherish every moment like its gonna be your last, love as if there's no gonna be another chance to do it again and remember, to laugh hard even when your life is a hard one.

I absolutely agree with you @medemausi, home is not just a place but the memories that were sheared. It was nice reading through your post, it made me flash back to so many memories of the past.

I'm glad you could relate well to the piece.
Thanks for reading through @ernesto6402

You are much welcome my friend

Beautiful song. You know, he's right. If you're already gone in your mind, heart, and spirit, you will be of no use at home. Even though home is precious memories and safety and security, each child must find his or her own way in life. Once you train up a child in the way he or she should go, then release them, and pray.

Thanks for sharing your story. Take care.
