Space Invaders in Paris

in #hive-1847843 months ago

My kids are in Paris right now and have been sending me texts and photos of all their adventures so that I feel like I am part of their holiday. This is a recent selection of photos that they sent.

They noticed a couple of these little space invaders and when they looked them up to find why they were on buildings, they found that Invader is a French artist that has secretly been placing his mosaic work of alien invaders all over Paris for the last 20 years!

After they became aware, they started searching for them as they walked around Paris. It became an Invader treasure hunt!

Paris

Invader and Space Invaders

Let's find out more ... Invader is an artist that used to play an arcade game called Space Invaders. It came out in 1978 and was hugely popular in the 1980's when he was a child. Space Invaders is one of the most addictive games that has ever been made and it's very simplistic. You are a space ship who must destroy the invading enemy space ships as they descend upon your little 8-bit world. You use the [SPACE] bar to fire your gun at them and blow each ship to pieces. Flash Invader modelled his mosaics on the pixelated art used in the game.

The game's not very trendy anymore and arcade and computer games have become much more sophisticated but Invader was sad when he was playing this game because he was thinking of all those little aliens and invaders stuck in the screen of the computer, so he decided to secretly free them all in Paris.

I expect they will be on the lookout for more space Invaders as they walk around the city!

Aww, I just love those pictures. Space invaders was one of my favourite games and I have played it a lot. But I don't think if the original one is still available 😕 (a lot of copies in the gaming Market)

Btw thanks a lot for bringing the vibes in a most unique way.

Very nice pictures.

I remember this game, I played it in the 1990s and 2000s too :D Love this street art and it's so lovely that your kids take you on a virtual tour of Paris! :)

Invader seem like a very good artist but I’m wondering why he must have been secretly posting his works on the walls of Paris
Let me just assume that he doesn’t want people to know him that much
I’m glad your kids are having a nice time in Paris

How nice of your kids Melinda!
I am also like that when new to a place, would take a lot of photos and sent it to our family group chat 😁

I've actually never played it before but it definitely looks familiar to me.It's so cool how this artist brought it to life in Paris with those mosaics. Your kids must be having a great time hunting them down. Lovely pics dearest Mel

I hope your kids enjoy their vacations in Paris, these little mosaics of space invaders can be found in many towns in France, and black cat templates have also been popping up lately.

My son said this morning 'I could live here'. I think that means they are loving Paris!

Great, Paris is the city of love, and they have no choice but to love it. 😍😂

They live in Chicago, so they are comfortable in cities. Me? I prefer the beautiful villages of France.

I'm not sure if its the same artist, but there are some in Tokyo too.

I think it is the same artist.

Cool to see all these Space Invader's works. It's cool to spot one afterwards, it's like a hunt, you want to see them all! Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a lovely day
