The latest reward cards have been live for over a week now, and I want to look at some of the Fire unit cards that have stood out to me.
Drybone Hobgoblin -- The Support Unit Standard
Drybone Hobgoblin is a good support monster out of the new batch of reward cards. It has one of my favorite abilities, Reach, and Immunity, so it can chip away at the opposition tank and not be affected by any debuffs from the opposition. Also, it has a good mana cost-to-health ratio even at level 1. I want to get this card to level six as it gets +1 melee, increased speed and health which will aid its usefulness in Fire based teams.
A maxed-out Drybone Hobgoblin would be amazing, as it acquires the Shatter ability and therefore it will destroy any high armor tank and then allow its compatriot in position one to land finishing blows.
Chaos Evoker -- High Risk / High Reward
Chaos Evoker stands out as a magic-based card with potentially high damage output. At level one it has the Blast ability and therefore can do lots of damage before it perishes due to its low health. The priority with Chaos Evoker is to get it to level 5 where it increases its health and acquires the Ambush ability. The one unit of armor is really useful as it can withstand at least one attack from Sneak and Opportunity monsters and ensure it potentially gets off one round of magic and blast damage.
At max level, the Chaos Evoker improves its survivability by gaining more health, more speed and acquiring Dodge which all aid in improving its survivability. Increasing survivability facilitates it to devastate backlines with its magic and blast damage.
Drybone Megalodon - The Crusher of Dreams
Drybone Megalodon is a heavy hitter with high health and armor. The key to utilizing Drybone Megalodon lies in its ability to dominate the frontlines. To ensure it survives long enough to make an impact, pair it with support cards that provide healing or armor. With its Flank ability, it can give buff support monsters like Ferox Defender a new lease of life as not only will Ferox Defender attack from position 2 due to acquiring Reach but it will provide extra armor and armor repair in the process. A fantastic new duo has just formed!
At max level, Drybone Megaladon just becomes a menace for all opposition teams to deal with -- four melee damage, four-speed, ten health and four armor and acquiring Thorns -- making it a no-brainer to get this card to max level.
In Closing
I fully foresee more and more battles in future featuring these monsters and starting to dominate the battlefield. One challenge I struggle with -- the new cards tend to feature more and more as they are shiny and new, and I forget about tried and tested old cards!
Which Fire unit monster has stood out for you out of the new batch of reward cards?
