When we say "The world is beautiful", I feel "Art makes the world beautiful" and we see art in almost everything in the world. Even as far as words spoken (poetry) too, it is an art and yes, they all hold meaning whether we know it or not. I'm a lover of art in most of it's forms but I can't say I've given enough of appreciation that they deserve.
Arts are birthed from the minds of people who have let their brain and heart work together, thought deep into things and deemed it fit to bring it into different forms like drawing, acting or saying it. One of my best art forms is music and drawing but I get to appreciate music more than drawing.
I think deciding to appreciate art or not goes down to knowing the worth of the art. One has to have ears and feeling for music or poetic words to appreciate their essence. One had to have eyes and feeling for drawings, sketches and movies to appreciate the work and meanings in them. There's no fighting how one feels really.
For me who may not know the meaning in all the arts I've seen, I never criticize or talk less of them. I just appreciate them for the simple fact that someone or people put their efforts into it and brought it to my view somehow. Every art has a meaning but beyond what it may mean, appreciate art for the sake of art (Giving more beauty).
There are actually some arts like music and drawings that I've listened to or seen that are terrible to my ears or eyes. I'm sure it is like that to some others but those same art are a beauty to another, that makes them retain their value whether it is appreciated by all or not. So it is best to just ignore your bad thought on what you think is worth it.
We all have different views, likes, dislikes, perspectives, and mostly, we are all different personalities. Those differences reflect in the art forms we see, they are all from people who are different from us too. But as God has made it, there are some things many like and some things many do not like based on mutuality and conviction.
On a personal note, I've become more of a person who just enjoy myself when I look at art works or listen to them, especially music and movies. Whether they speak deep to me or not, there is always the efforts that speak even louder to me and I appreciate those behind the success of it.
Art do not need to have meanings behind it but yes, they all have. Some are hidden so needs more deeper connection to find, some are very clear. It doesn't make any art lesser, they hold their own value that only those who have eyes for them or enjoy them will acknowledge and appreciate. I doubt it's possible to gain nothing from art.
