Working on one's own terms and conditions comes with freedom but sometimes, there are the downsides to it. There are various jobs and many do them for the main purpose of making money, and some for the purpose of keeping themselves busy or doing the things what they enjoy doing.
I've had my experience of working for money, working because I just want to leave the house and working from home and for what I love doing, all have lessons to teach me and I've decided on which had been much better for me to gain flexibility while I work to earn and grow intellectually.
I remember the months I spent working at a law firm for a Boss that had an abusive rule, making sure we never leave early from work and doing extra just because he feels the pay is too much for what we do when it was even barely enough. I started working with him so I could keep busy for that main time.
That experience taught me a lot the freedom that comes with working on my own terms and still giving my best while at it. I was on a discussion with a friend and we pointed out that some people actually prefer to be ordered around by Bosses while some want to give the orders.
I figured I'm in none of those category, I just want to get to do my work at my own time and pace, grow as much as possible and live life while at it. I don't see the need of overworking, neglecting things that matters and be unhappy about life while one pursues financial freedom through work.
Is my work-life flexible? Even though it's just a one year contract work at the moment, combining it with my Hive activities, I've been experiencing a good balance that haven't obstructed much for me. I decide when I work online so I just make sure to find balance among the two.
There are distractions to deal with working online but it is something that teaches discipline gradually, another lesson to learn from working on my own terms. There is freedom of when, where, how and why I have to do things that would earn me money while I pursue living a good life.
I wouldn't want things to stay this way and they wouldn't anyways but in the future, I still plan to pursue a work-life balance as much as I can wherever life takes me to (work-wise). Over time, I've learned more ways to keep a balance as I am the kind that hates being too stressed out.
I can't remember the last time I felt too stressed over something work related except maybe, I just choose not. That shows just how much I am making sure I reduce the amount of time I give into working and the good amount of time I give into making life worth living for myself exploring happiness and financial freedom at my own pace and on my own terms.
