One easy way out of a situation that isn't favourable to a person is to give an excuse and to give one, lies are mostly said. It's kinda safe to say excuses are lies and lies are excuses, while some are understandable, some are unbelievable and wild to an extent, the listener is shocked by how a person could actually use it as an excuse.
I've seen a lot of movies where excuses are used, different kinds including the relatable ones and the outrageous ones but in real life, people I've witness give excuses, it's a lot different. Even though they try to get sympathy or less query using excuses, I've witness many who still get the exact punishment that they were trying to avoid.
From my experience living and interacting with other people, there's actually no way to avoid excuses when having deals with people. When there is a promise or deal to fulfil, an excuse could come out of nowhere. It's all part of making something little or huge a success but it's no sense when the excuses are literally outrageous.
I once witness a lady giving an excuse of her lateness, saying "she was kidnapped on her way to work". The whole story was quite convincing by her words but her looks and well presented looks didn't match her tale. They figured she was lying but waited to see how she turns the story well enough to make them to believe, she failed.
They all ended up laughing because she couldn't keep it going, she just started begging her seniors not to report their Boss that she came late. It was really funny how she had first thought that the excuse would be even a bit believable to let her escape the result of her lateness. It's not an impossible thing but it didn't happen to her.
I still wonder how my friend came up with an excuse that even to her was unbelievable until she said it. We had agreed to go for an event together and we had to be there as early as 7am to meet up with our plans there. I don't want to talk about how confident she was that she'd be the one to even hurry me up, she'd be on time!
Well, to cut the long story short, we both met at the event venue and not at the junction we decided on before that day. What was her reason? I'm still yet to digest all she said and I didn't even hide how shocked I was to hear her give such an excuse. "I think I'm sick, I totally forgot what today is" was my friend's excuse.
Why that was unbelievable was because of how hyped she was more than I was about what we were going to achieve that day, it was so outrageous that my friend will be the one to forget what we had planned but the excuse didn't end there. She said she actually forgot the day's date like we do have in time travel movies lol.
