This is one of my favorite statues at the local cemetery. Its childish features still stand out with all the weathering the stone has seen. Eternally youthful, its soft look might one day fade to the hardened stone from which it was carved, but I imagine that will be a very long time from now. Maybe one day someone will try and restore it. I recently found some of the statues from an adjacent cemetery appear to have been restored, as they look far more refreshed than I remember them. I really enjoy monochrome as the medium for these sculptures; it really brings out the textures and makes me see some more character in the face.
