Monomad: Warehouse District Calgary

in #hive-1421592 months ago

The warehouse district is just outside of downtown Calgary, and the red brick buildings are actually now modern businesses. Back in Calgary's early days, they were the prime warehouse spots along the Canadian Pacific railway line, which runs parallel to these buildings about 12 blocks north. In the 1990s, these were mostly, if not completely, abandoned buildings. The city, which was boom-and-bust due to its fortunes tied to the oil industry, went through many of these periods. Over the past decade or so, we have seen this area revitalized, with the red brick buildings updated and modernized while still maintaining their historical designs. This area is filled with photo opportunities that I hope to explore more this summer.
