Sunday, February 9 2025, on this happy occasion I would like to show again some interesting images that I have mentioned in my activities. The pictures I am showing are pictures of my activities on Saturday, February 8 2025.
Can work in one of the freshwater fish seed nursery installations in the Sawang District, North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia. This place is one of the places which is also known as the Freshwater Fish Seed Center. This place belongs to the North Aceh Regency government or is under the auspices of the North Aceh Regency maritime and fisheries service.
I have worked here for 4 years as a technician and developed freshwater fish nurseries such as tilapia, goldfish and catfish and various other types of freshwater fish. With this fish seed center, you can certainly create superior freshwater fish seeds. Having superior parents can certainly produce superior seeds. Then the price of fish seeds at a center like this is certainly cheaper and the quality is good.
The district office built this place as a partner for developing freshwater fish. Usually many people in this area also cultivate freshwater fish because the location is far from the coast so cultivating freshwater fish is quite good here. The water source at the Fish Seed Center is also quite good because to the east there is an irrigation stream which has sufficient water for the needs of this Fish Seed Center and also the needs of other agricultural communities such as people who grow rice in rice fields.
The water source also comes directly from the mountains and is free from heavy metals. As we know, if there is heavy metal content in the water, it is quite dangerous as a place for fish because it is polluted. So on this occasion I have prepared several pictures of yesterday when I carried out feeding activities and also entering water into the pond where the fish were kept.
Before I continue to discuss the pictures that I have prepared, it would be a good idea for me to say my words of respect to all my friends wherever they are and hopefully the best will always be for us together, okay friends, let's look at the pictures that I have prepared.
In the morning I give food to the fish in the pond. The type of feed that I give is prima feed and this is a type of feed that is quite good because it contains quite high protein, namely 38%. Previously, the only feed available at our Seed Center was feed that contained 28% and 35% protein. This time there was feed assistance provided to us from the local people's representative council with a fairly good type of feed, namely prime feed with a fairly high protein content, namely 38%.
In fish farming, of course feed is very important to accelerate the growth of the fish and especially feed that contains high protein is certainly quite good for fish growth. We also have to know about feeding and usually here I feed 3% of the fish biomass in the pond. Once every week I do sampling and then from the sampling results we know how much food is needed for the fish in the pond.
If you give too much food, of course it is also not good for aquatic biota because the remaining food that is not eaten by aquatic biota can become ammonia in the water and is dangerous for aquatic biota. So if we develop a place to cultivate fish, of course we have to know the food requirements, survival rate for fish and also the profits in the cultivation process.
In several ponds I had time to take pictures, I felt like it was a week and we could see there were fish in the pond. The fish are large, around 300 to 500 grams per fish and there are also small and medium ones. Usually I do feeding twice a day, namely in the morning and in the afternoon. Then, for fish seed feed, of course I give it three times, namely in the morning, afternoon and evening. My goal is to give feed three times to the fry because the fish fry quickly empty the feed in the stomach so if we give it more than twice or better.
After feeding, I also do several other activities such as cleaning the pond and also putting water into the pond. There are several pools made of concrete and the floors are also concrete. There are also pools here that are still dirt and there are also those with concrete walls and dirt floors. So yesterday I cleaned a pool whose floor and walls were made of concrete. This pond is indeed small and usually in this pond I do broodstock spawning to produce seeds from tilapia fish. The demand for tilapia seeds here is also quite high because the market potential and market value are also very profitable for communities that cultivate tilapia.
