One of the abilities I'm enjoying using the most in Splinterlands is Stun. It's very satisfying to see your opponent's card unable to perform any action and even ruin their strategy.
There aren't many monsters that have the Stun ability. In fact, I don't think I've researched all of them yet, so I don't know exactly if there are only a few, but I believe there are. Most of my strategies have the water deck as their main deck, and one of the monsters I use the most in my battles is Igor Darkspear. The reasons I use him a lot is because his mana cost is extremely low and he has the Stun ability.
Igor Darkspear is an epic monster from the water deck and its mana cost is 2, its attack type is ranged and it has the ability Stun that is unlocked from level 4.
This monster may seem weak at a low level but from level 3 it becomes an excellent choice because it will have 2 attack, 3 speed and 5 life, these are great stats for a cost of only 2 mana, but it becomes even more incredible from level 4 because it will have the ability Stun and this ability is a great ally in battles.
The ability Stun gives the monster a 50% chance of applying Stun to the monster it successfully attacks, when the monster is Stunned it will be unable to perform any movement for 1 round.
50% may seem like a "low" percentage but monsters that have the ability Stun usually apply Stun to most attacks and this ability can make all the difference between a victory and a defeat. In the case of Igor Darkspear, he can make all this difference while costing only 2 mana.
This battle is an example of how the Stun ability works and right at the beginning of it my Igor Darkspear managed to apply Stunned to my opponent's monster Grund, it may be just 1 monster but in the case of Grund it has 4 attack and the ability Double Strike which allows it to attack 2x in the round, so my Igor Dark Spear made sure my monster Baakjira didn't receive 8 damage in this round and even though it wasn't enough to defeat Baakjira, this simple action made him sure that he wouldn't be defeated in this battle because the only danger to him was the monster Grund and he was defeated shortly after, which made Baakjira become a practically immortal tank in this battle since most of the other monsters didn't cause almost any damage to him.
In the end all my opponent could do was wait for his inevitable defeat.
My next step in Splinterlands is to finally unlock the Champion league, a league that I never dreamed of reaching when I played back then but that seems to be very easy to reach nowadays.
