The New Generation

in #healing8 days ago

We older generations kind of keep judging the Gen Z and the Gen Alpha in our own ways. Yes, I too have my opinions around them which I will not deny in which some are good and some are not good. What are I like most about them is their ability to break the generational patterns of trauma, which they clearly understand they do not wish to take it ahead and pass it on to the next generation. Gen Alpha is too young for that, but Gen Z is already in that stage of life where they are having children and they clearly know what they want to give to their children.

They are more focused on the future then living in the past, unlike the older generations who keep making reference statements of the past. For e.g. a person from Gen Z, if they have had an abusive childhood, they are mindful that they will not give the same type of childhood to their children. This mindfulness is very important in breaking these generational patterns where trauma has been passed on from one generation to another so unmindfully. Just because as an individual someone suffered in some or the other way in their childhood or in their marriage or in other areas of life, that does not mean the same behavior needs to be adapted by them and passed on to their next in line.

If the person does not mindfully choose to break these patterns then the chain will go on and on. We often hear this from our elders saying, we went through this pain and you are getting it so easy, I sometimes feel is it some kind of an envy, because you went through pain, does it mean that even I have to go through the pain. This is what I see in the new generation, they do not make such statements. They ability to Let Go the past is stronger then the older generations, they are forward looking and want to live life in a better manner and also pass on the good life to their children.

This is what we call breaking the generational patterns and the traumas that pass on down the line, which the new generations understand it better then the older ones. They are mindful about what they want to give to their children. Well, it may not apply to everyone but at large I see these behaviors and it is very encouraging.

Right. I think being mindful also brings about the effect of thinking differently. Always enjoy having a conversation with my mum about their era compared to today's world. Part of me thinks she still lives in that era lol, at least some parts of her too.

That will never go, trust me, because that's what we are brought up with, and for each generation it will be the same. As the new generation gets old, they will see similar differences with the new gen of their time and then those comparisons will happen

They're so mindful about breaking those old patterns of trauma and ensuring a better future for their children.

Hot topic we also do a lot with at work. This is the first time that you have 4 'generations' on the workfloor and that comes with differences. Some good, some bad but we can all learn something out of them.

The most striking examples as always...the boomers always check the schedule ' to see when they have time off' while gen Z 'checks the schedule to see when they have to work' referring to the differences in how people see the week ;)

You are right, there is a learning from each generation.
Haha, you bet that's what exactly I am referring to, the evolved mindset.
Also I feel that as we age up, we have done so much of everything that nothing excites us much, whereas the new generation has just started and they are filled with enthusiasm to do something in life and that's what drives them.

As Melenial born in early 90's and a father of a beautiful young, all I want for her is the best life there is. I also not wanting her be in the rat race as I have experienced in my corporate job. My goal is to establish my own business for her to continue. However, the final decision is her to decide. If she loves her passion why not.

That's such a beautiful mindset towards raising your child. I wish every parent would think it this way. And the better part is you are setting up things for her and giving her choices in life.
