Turning Sleepless Nights into New Adventures

It’s 3 AM, again.
I’m up, searching for coffee, scrolling through this platform, and reading some truly inspiring stories. It’s become my early morning ritual, not by choice, but because my body seems to think perimenopause means “no sleep for you.” Add endometriosis to the mix, and let’s just say sleep has always been a bit of a challenge.

But today, instead of feeling frustrated, I started thinking about something I’ve been learning, how our brains work and how we can rewire them. Thank you, neuroencoding, for sneaking into my thoughts at 3 AM. Yes neuroencoding is my business.

We know that the brain loves patterns. It holds onto old habits and reactions because they’re familiar, even if they don’t serve us anymore. But the beauty is this, we can change those patterns. We can “recode” how we react to life’s challenges, whether it’s sleepless nights, parenting transitions, or navigating new chapters of life.

For me, this means rethinking how I approach these 3 AM wake-ups. Instead of focusing on the fact that I’m not sleeping, I can choose to see it differently. I can focus on what I’m gaining from this quiet time, the time to reflect, read, learn, and yes, even dream. The mind can be your worst enemy, or it can be your greatest ally. It all depends on what story you’re telling yourself.

And isn’t that the beauty of raising kids, too? It’s all about letting go of the old patterns we thought we knew, what parenting “should” look like, and embracing the joy of seeing them carve out their own lives. Our kids are growing, becoming who they are meant to be, and it’s incredible to watch. Challenging? Of course. But also rewarding beyond words.

I’ve started planning little holiday trips, and I’ve finally made the big decision to take a solo trip. (Yes, @tydynrain, it’s official now.) It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but it feels like the perfect time to step into the next chapter of my life with confidence and curiosity.

And yet, even with all this forward motion, I know there’s work to do on the everyday patterns. I need to start yoga again. I’ve been saying I don’t have time, but let’s be real, that’s exactly when I need it the most. The body and mind are connected, and it’s time to give both the care they deserve.

In moments like these, I can’t help but think of Shakespeare,
“Tragedy is a comedy misunderstood.”
What a mantra for life. The hard stuff? It’s all part of the bigger story. The unexpected twists, the sleepless nights, the challenges, they all make the comedy of life richer and more meaningful.

So here’s my plan,
Shift the story I’m telling myself.
Rewire the patterns.
Embrace the chaos and find grace in it.

Because at the end of the day, life isn’t about avoiding challenges. It’s about moving through them with grace, laughter, and a sense of adventure.

And maybe, just maybe, I’ll sleep better knowing I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

HMPV: Unnecessary panic or another pandemic?

A virus is gaining much attention lately. It’s called HMPV (human metapneumovirus). China being the initial place of the surge of this viral illness, people are in fear of experiencing another pandemic! Even though China attributed this surge to a yearly winter surge, people aren’t at ease! The WHO also hasn’t warned us about it! However, it’s advisable to approach this viral illness similarly to other viral infections (wearing musk, avoiding hand shaking, touching suspected virus-laden objects, etc).

It’s not a new virus. It's been in existence for at least 6 decades. It’s a norm to have a spike of this virus every winter and spring.

Like other viral illnesses, the disease starts with a cold, stuffy nose, and fever. In some individuals (children, elderly, or immunocompromised), pneumonia or bronchitis may complicate this condition. Usually, a person starts developing symptoms within 3-6 days of contracting the virus.

Currently, there are no vaccines available against this virus.

Instead of focusing on the fact that I’m not sleeping, I can choose to see it differently.

This is pretty much the best way to go about it. Instead of beating one's self up because our body refuses to cooperate, we can choose to go with the flow, make some adjustments and we'd be good to go.

You got it exactly, life is learning to dance and flow with grace and ease, through everything that we meet in our experience. I have a feeling that we might, perhaps, have some quite lovely conversations. I've been intending to return to regular yoga and integral practices for quite some time now, but I never seem to make the time to actually do it. I'm always juggling lots.
