Work and the conditions around working! Basically during the pandemic everything turned to shit. For me at least. To be fair it was already heading that way but the Covid really pushed things along in many ways. It had felt like a race to bottom for a while but then we finally made it.
The security guard at one factory of the factories I was at suddenly became a engineering project manager as well as his normal duties. Nothing against the security guard, he was a friend of mine and I had know him for years but in charge of a project he knew nothing about. This had me baffled until I work out upper managements thinking. They were just cutting costs where ever possible, no matter what result. It was like they would not believe it was wrong until things were completely broken and they were losing money. At least at the factory in question all the contractors where signed in correctly and had the right paper work!
Before we used to do maintenance, things would get painted so they would not rust. If they broke we would custom make replace parts or just order and install spares. Nowadays they just get tagged and and then get given a priority and risk score and reviewed monthly until they break completely and production comes to a grinding halt.
Times change I used to fight against it but quickly learned how to just make it work for me. Things actually got a little easier even though it felt wrong not to fix something up properly there and then. Just record, report and wait for the security guard to check with an upper management university graduate in some air conditions office to make a decision.
