How are you today, friends? Today in the Thai calendar is another important day. If we were living in Thailand today, me and the children would definitely be able to cook and make merit at a Thai temple. And at night we have a candlelight procession at the temple, something I've experienced since I was a child. Unfortunately, when I came to live in Malaysia. Thai temples here are quite hard to find and far from where I live, so I could only take the children to make merit at a nearby shrine.Because I think that making merit no matter where you do it, if you do it with sincerity, if you do it at a Thai temple or a Chinese temple, you will get the same merit. Today the weather is a bit hot but the sky is beautiful and bright blue.
I took the children upstairs to the shrine and bought candles and incense sticks to light for prayer.And it is considered as making merit. I consider it to be teaching my children to learn how to go to temples and make merit and continue the religion within themselves. And I also learned to make merit like the Chinese. After making merit, our minds are at peace. This is a large shrine that I have been to many times. Today it is very peaceful here. Sometimes I still want to come and meditate at this shrine because the beauty and tranquility of this place is so good. And one more thing, this place gives a very peaceful atmosphere, which is not different from Thai temples at all. After the children had finished paying respects to the gods, they walked down the stairs and on the right hand side there was a Naga statue made of bricks carved into the shape of a dragon spouting water. Inside there are coins that people come to pay their respects to and then toss the coins to make a wish. My daughter also tossed a coin and made a wish. After that, we all went down to sit at the bottom of the shrine. Today the wind was cool and the weather was nice. We sat there for a while and then it was time to go home and consider that today we had already made merit and took the auspicious time to receive good fortune for our lives.
