I just asked myself if people still make phone calls in todays era because I don’t think I do. Maybe I don’t really have a life after all.😂 Allow me to take you back to the days our forefathers used birds to deliver messages to one another. I bet it took them days or even months to get a ‘hello my friend’ to any other part of the world. But guess what? They still did it,regardless.
Today, we have technology at our beck and call. No need for birds anymore. You just need your smart device and you’re good to go. To further add to that, with the emergence of technology, there have been different means of communication recently . To get into contact with someone, you have a lot of options to choose from ranging from phone calls, video calls, text messages and even audio recordings. There’s a long list but let’s make do with this for now. Of this long list, everyone has what he prefers.
Our grandparents who don’t know their way around how the phone works obviously want to make phone calls but we the Gen z’s , Alphas and others would want to use other channels. Personally, I don’t like phone calls and believe me, phone call is not the way to reach me in case of an emergency. I’m always with my phone, yes. But will I answer when I see your call? Probably not. How about your text? That would do!
I don’t even remember the last time I was on a phone call. Aside my mom or someone close to me, phone call is a no no for me. I just feel that’s not my thing and more over, once a call comes through, it distracts every other thing I have going on which i dislike. So, you’d mostly find me texting people when I need to get to them except in situations where I have to call them.
In a world of endless choices, everyone has an option to choose from when it comes to communication. Times have changed indeed. Who knows, maybe in the future we might even be able to teleport to whoever we need to speak to but for now, don’t call me. Text instead, or better still , send the bird.
