Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. One thing that comes with so much pressure and responsibilities is being a leader. I went to a leadership summit once, and the speaker said, "It is quite easier to lead and control domestic animals than leading humans." I could not help but agree with him; it is very difficult to lead, as not everyone will be pleased with your pattern of leadership. The truth is, even if you lay down your life as a leader, some people will still not like how you did it and will still complain about how you did it and wish you did it differently. Leadership is not for the fainthearted; you must be prepared for the insults and criticisms that come with it and have it at the back of your mind that you just cannot please everybody, and trying to please everybody will be the end of you.

As a leader, you should only make choices that favor the people and growth of the organization, but lately leaders only make choices that favor them. Once a decision favors the people and would ensure the growth of the organization or country, then it's a good decision, but there would still be a group of individuals or an individual who would stand against it, especially those who are after personal interest. A neighbor made an enemy because the money allocated to a community for the provision of water to the community was used to provide the water as instructed, but a member of the committee suggested that they take the money for themselves, but the man stood his ground and from there made an enemy. So decisions can favor the people and ensure growth, but some people still won't support it.
Politics is something I really want to distance myself from; whenever it crosses my mind, I try to change whatever I am thinking of. Politics is one of the very few topics anyone can raise, and I go completely quiet; even if I have something to add or say, I prefer to stay quiet. I feel our politicians on this side of the world have made politics look so bad that we feel everyone involved in politics is not a selfless person and is only after self-interest. They have made a lot of us detest politics so much to the point we don't want to be involved in it.
So if eventually at some point in my life there is a twist of fate, or peer pressure, and I find myself traveling that path, I will definitely try to do politics differently. I must admit that anyone can go against their ethics and believes once they have a taste of power and money. I have had a lot of imaginations, but not for once have I ever imagined myself as a politician, so going into politics will definitely be a twist of fate. There is a lot of money involved in politics, but it is no news that one has to play dirty to gain full access to the money, which is why many selfless persons who traveled that path changed completely and went with the saying, "If you cannot beat them, you join them."
Speaking and making decisions for the people is a responsibility that comes with holding any political position, and this responsibility is not something just anyone can handle, which is why going into politics should be voluntary and not forced. Whoever feels like they can speak, fight, and stand for the people should be the only ones allowed to venture into politics; that way, politics can actually be done right. Those who are intentional about the general public can actually resist the urge to go rogue to some point; they can help us see politics and politicians differently.
