I welcome you to my blog. Growing up, I have had a taste of what it feels like to be caned; truth be told, I have a few teachers that I don't see myself forgiving not to talk more of perfects. Attending a public school where perfects had the right to cane a fellow student to their satisfaction is one of the things that gave room to experiencing different styles of canning and positions that you can ask a person to stay, and if you cane them in that position all their life, they will keep thinking about you and that day. I never liked my parents following me to school, so sometimes I hide the scars and even pretend that I am not in pain, whereas if given the opportunity I will just be crying all day and night.

The one cane experience I will never forget came from a teacher. The class was all noisy and students were jumping from one table to the other, and I, a new student, was just on my own quietly, and this teacher walked in and asked everybody to lie down on their table with their eyes closed. My dear people of God, we could only hear shouts and the sound of the cane approaching but won't know when it will get to you; you just have to stay expectant, and when it got to my turn, this man hit me on my neck. For three days I could not turn to the right because of how swollen it was, and it was more painful that I was a new student and was not making noise that day.
We all must have heard about the famous quote from the Bible: "Spare the rod and spoil the child." This is what parents use to motivate themselves to give a child the punishment of their life. It's even more annoying when a neighbor uses this quote on your parents whenever they feel like letting your mess up slide. Now they have been reminded that letting it slide means you'd definitely do it again or even do worse, so they will want to stop that from happening.
Lately, when I look at this generation of kids and students, I am very happy for them because of the level of freedom they enjoy. Sometimes I wonder if it's still really my mom, things my younger siblings do now, and she just acts like it's nothing if I do it those days we will be running a marathon already. Those days as e dey hot you don collect (without wasting time you get punished), but now even schools have the no canning policy and even parents have gone soft, which is good to some point because I realized overtime kids become hardened, or should I say get used to the punishment, and are no longer scared by it.
Kids can get punished for their wrong deeds, but parents and teachers should not make it a habit of punishing kids for every little wrong deed; sometimes talk to them and advise them. At some point growing up, I stopped being scared of the threat, "I will flog you." When mom is flogging me, dad is flogging me, prefects are flogging me, and teachers as well, I got used to it, and when I want to do something bad, I just do it anyways; after all, it ends with getting whipped.
