Sometimes, things don’t happen as we expect them too.
Definitely, every one of us has ever been in situations where we felt that everything is out of our control. Sometimes, such changes may be personal, professional or even global issues which when they happen make us feel off balance.
But within this unpredictability, there’s a way to find balance, and a way to be at peace with our lives.
The first approach is to understand that life is unpredictable and that this is perfectly normal. Faced with a change, our default mentality is to push back or attempt to prevent the change. But more often, we end up trying to overcome the possibility that leads only to more stressing.
When one decides to open up to the possibility of change in a certain organization, it makes way for new ideas and new possibilities. It’s not about giving up, it has more to do with the fact that it doesn’t matter how much we want to control things it just does not work that way.
Another efficient tool is MINDFULNESS that can help us stay in the present moment. When nothing is clear it becomes very easy to just dwell on the worst case scenarios that might be upcoming. But by concentrating on the present time we can bring the mind to ease and decrease anxiety.
It turns out that our everyday stresses can easily be relieved through simple exercises such as deep breathing or focusing on the most mundane of things
In these moments one realizes that more strength is attainable as has been imagined.
Being FLEXIBLE is also key. Well, flexibility here doesn’t imply forgetting the goals set, but it means being ready to make a change. When sometimes the events turn out to be otherwise we do not get lost from our path completely. If we’re willing to change our strategies while still having our final objective in mind, they can take us to directions you never planned for.
In on of my most recent research project for a friend on Analyzing flood resilience, everything initially seemed to be going smoothly until I encountered delays and unexpected issues. I was able to map plan and execute so the times that I wanted to be overwhelmed by the setbacks I was able to adapt. I discovered other ways of focusing on collecting data, changed the timeframes and never lost sight of the goal. But that flexibility and determination also allowed me not only to survive the challenges but also to achieve significant results in a difficult context and I was able to give the project work to my friend before the time for submission.
In the end, finding balance in uncertainty doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means staying present, being adaptable, and trusting that even in the midst of chaos, you can still find your footing. And sometimes, it’s in those moments of uncertainty that we grow the most.💯
