Nostalgia

Drawing used to be one of my hobbies as a child. And making birthdays special for the people I cared about was important to me then, even though I couldn't do much. For my mom's birthday—perhaps her 38th—I made a birthday card for her. Almost two decades later, it's still here, so I made a digital version as my entry for this special prompt for the week.

My mom's birthday happens to be on Christmas day, so it is always double the celebration at home. And that inspired this kind of card I made when I was probably eight years old.

The only challenge I had redesigning this on Canva was getting the right Santa to use. I couldn't find the exact type I drew on the card, so I had to improvise with the ones available. For the fonts, I just picked the best matches that look good. Then I added some elements, like the cake and the hat. Then a few extras to make it look a little better than the actual card, such as the subtle snow in the background.

I'm not sure how or why, but there's nothing in the original card. There's no note, which is surprising to me now because I thought I did write something. Oh well, maybe I just didn't have the words then. So I took out some from a special Mother's day post I wrote for her last year here and added it to the digital version.

My dear Mom, you are our imperfectly perfect mother. You have raised us with your whole heart, sacrificing all for your boys. You love us recklessly and unconditionally. You have shown us that the virtues of respect, hard work, and kindness are the foundations of good living. Thank you always, Mom, for being our superwoman and for teaching and guiding us even if it meant receiving delicious strokes. No one is perfect, yet your imperfections are exactly what make you perfect. And your boys love you for it.

She's seen them before—my award-winning card and the note—but it'll be nice to send them to her again this year. Might not be perfect, but it's rather about the heart that went into it. And that's why I didn't try to "make it better," else I may have taken the love out of it.

By the way, here are the fonts; Merry Christmas - Playlist Script; & - Comic Sans (with hollow effect); Happy - Moonlight, Birthday - Waterlily (although the B is in a different text box); The letter - Adult Notepad.

This looks beautiful and captivating 😊 your mom will be so delighted to receive this.
Happy birthday to her in advance

Thank you, man.

Looks beautiful. I almost forgot that I can draw also as I don't do any drawing unless I am forced to do it. I don't know why I lost interest in it. I will try to design something in Canva if I get time.

You used to draw too?? I guess we just all grew up and forgot about things we used to love as kids. Would be cool to see your Canva design if you find the time to.

This is a post you see when a the young shall grow boy write about how incomparable mummy love means to him years back and mow. From the beauty and construction of the letter... One will definitely know you loved your mummy beyond measure.
