Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

BAIRRO DO BAILADOR - IGREJA DE SANTIAGO - ALCACER DO SAL.jpg

After exploring the historic center and crossing the pedestrian bridge, with the sun already higher in the sky, we decided to take a lunch break. We opted for one of the restaurants located on the banks of the São Francisco River, with a privileged view of the water and the hills that surround the city. The restaurant was cozy and had typical Alentejo decor. It offered delicious dishes with authentic flavors of the region!

We chose a dish of fresh fish, accompanied by a house white wine, while enjoying the gentle breeze coming from the river. Lunch was an experience to remember, where we were able to taste the region's cuisine in a peaceful environment. It feels good to eat without rushing and without knowing where we are going next but with the certainty that we still have a lot to see.

With our batteries charged, we continued our walk towards Bairro do Bailador, an area that, despite being a little far from the center, is unique and authentic. The neighborhood is a reflection of the daily life of Alcácer do Sal, with its wider streets and traditional houses, many of which still preserve the Alentejo architectural style. The simplicity and serenity of the neighborhood, with its residents passing by carefree and greeting with a smile, made us feel as if we had immersed ourselves even more in the essence of the city.

Walking through the Bailador neighborhood was like discovering a more intimate side of Alcácer do Sal, where time seems to run even more slowly, allowing every detail to be appreciated calmly. The white houses, with doors and windows framed by colored bars, contrasted beautifully with the blue sky, creating a picturesque landscape. Small gardens and flower-filled balconies added touches of color and life to the scene, making the tour a visually enchanting experience.

After exploring the neighborhood, we headed towards the Church of Santiago, one of the city's religious and historical landmarks. Situated in a slightly elevated position, the church offers a panoramic view of Alcácer do Sal and the river that runs through it. The simple and austere facade of the church, typical of the medieval style, houses an interior that surprises with its serenity and beauty. The white walls and the soft light that enters through the windows create a peaceful environment, inviting reflection and silence.

Thank U!
