Today we end our visit to Viseu with spectacular photographic records.
Time has been short and has not allowed me to come as regularly as I would like. The body and brain start to ask for a vacation after an intense year of work and changes.
Visiting the Viseu Cathedral was a truly memorable experience. As soon as we approached this place we were impressed by its imposing facade, a mix of architectural styles that reflect various eras of construction. The facade, equipped with robust towers and very detailed ornamentation, is a testimony to the long history of this religious monument.
After visiting the exterior (as mentioned in the previous post) we entered through the side door and were immediately absorbed by the grandeur of the interior.

Hoje terminamos a nossa visita por Viseu com espetaculares registos fotográficos.
O tempo tem sido curto e não me tem permitido vir coma regularidade que gostaria. o corpo e a cebça começam a pedir férias após um ano intenso de trabalho e mudanças.
Visitar a Sé Catedral de Viseu foi uma experiência verdadeiramente memorável. Assim que nos aproximamos deste local ficamos impressionados com sua imponente fachada, uma mistura de estilos arquitetônicos que refletem várias épocas da construção. A fachada, dotada de torres robustas e ornamentação muito detalhasa, é um testemunho da longa história de vida deste monumento religioso.
Após visitar a parte exterior (como referido no post anterior) entramos pela porta lateral e fomos imediatamente abosrvidos pela grandiosidade do interior.
The central nave has high vaults and imposing arches, and we are as if drawn towards the main altar. This altar is a masterpiece of sacred art, adorned with gilded carvings that shine softly in the light that shines through the colorful stained glass windows. Each of them tells biblical stories and their colors illuminate the interior of the cathedral in a magical way. I felt small compared to the size of the space, where every detail seemed to tell a part of the cathedral's story.
For the first time in a long time I sat down and prayed. I hadn't done that for a long time. I go to church from time to time, I light a candle for my father but I usually don't pray... I lit a candle and our daughter lit another. He found it strange to see me pray and asked why I was doing it. I explained that I just felt like it and that I felt good about it.

A nave central, tem abóbadas altas e arcos imponentes, e somo como que atraídos para o altar-mor. Este altar é uma obra-prima de arte sacra, adornado com talha dourada que brilha suavemente à luz que adentra através dos vitrais coloridos. Cada um deles conta histórias bíblicas e as suas cores iluminam o interior da catedral de uma forma mágica. Senti-me pequena diante da dimensão do espaço, onde cada detalhe, parecia contar uma parte da história da catedral.
Pela primeira vez em muito tempo sentei-me e rezei. Já não o fazia há muito tempo. Vou de vez em quando à igreja, acendo uma vela pelo meu pai mas habitualmente não rezo... Acendi uma vela e a nossa filha acendeu outra. Achou estranho ver-me rezar e perguntou por que motivo o estava a fazer. Expliquei que apenas me apeteceu e que me senti bem com isso.
We explored the various side chapels, each dedicated to a saint or important religious figure. The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament draws particular attention for its serene atmosphere and refined decoration. The silence there was almost palpable.
As we carefully analyzed every detail we found an arm that caught our attention. I personally had to look at it several times to understand it. It belongs to São Teotónio and, as you can see, is made of glass and silver, made from the cane of his arm, having been offered to the Cathedral in 1603 by the monks of Santa Cruz de Coimbra.

Exploramos as várias capelas laterais, cada uma dedicada a um santo ou a uma figura religiosa importante. A Capela do Santíssimo Sacramento chama particularmente à atenção pela sua atmosfera serena decoração refinada. O silêncio ali era quase palpável.
Enquanto analisávamos cuidadosamente cada detalhe encontramos um braço que chamou a nossa atenção. Eu pessoalmente tive de olhar várias vezes para perceber. Pertence a São Teotónio e é como podem ver feito de vidro e prata, constituído pela cana do braço, tendo sido oferecida à Sé no ano de 1603 pelos monges de Santa Cruz de Coimbra.
There is a museum on the first floor (which we did not visit) that contains a fascinating collection of sacred art, including vestments, reliquaries and ancient manuscripts. All the pieces are a testimony to the historical and religious importance of the Viseu Cathedral.
Leaving the cathedral, we stopped again for a moment to enjoy the view of the Adro da Sé, this time from the opposite perspective. The visit to the Cathedral and the city of Viseu was more than just a visit, It was a trip that awakened memories that deeply connected me with the past and the beautiful times I lived there.

Existe no primeiro andar um museu (que não visitamos)que contém uma coleção fascinante de arte sacra, incluindo paramentos, relicários e manuscritos antigos. Todas as peças são um testemunho da importância histórica e religiosa da Sé Catedral de Viseu.
Saindo da catedral, paramos novamente um momento para apreciar a vista do Adro da Sé, desta vez na perspectiva contrária. A visita à Sé Catedral e à cidade de Viseu foi mais do que uma simples passagem, foi uma viagem que despertou memórias que me conectou profundamente com o passado e com os tempos bonitos que ali vivi.
