Collapse of the system
The number of births in Belgium was in 2024 lower than in the last 21 years. A trend that is setting in all of the Western world. Russia, USA, Belgium, Germany, France… all over those countries the number of births is too little to keep the population at status quo in the upcoming years.
This brings in financial trouble for the the social security and the pensions. The system needs a broad base of workers to pay for the pensions of the growing amount of the elderly.
That is at the current rate unsustainable, either social standards will have to drop drastically and pensions will have to be a lot lower or taxes will have to be raised dramatically…
Or the countries will need to keep the door open for mass migration, like it has bee done in the past decade, with devastating consequences for the cohesion of society…
Tough times ahead for the Western world!
Sincerely,
