Silent thief
Up until yesterday I had never heard of SparkCat. But as of now the malware is very well known to me, as I know how incredibly nifty and stealthy this piece of software operates. It could clean out your crypto wallets without you even knowing how they did it!
The malware is installed onto your computer or phone by being hidden into crypto applications or just other plain applications. Once it is on your device it scans your photos in the cloud where it searches for photos of seed phrases of crypto wallets. The malware is so sophisticated it even can read blurry photos of badly lighted photos of recovery seed phrases.
As it is in your device it can link the recovery phrase to the corresponding wallet and just empties your wallet. Very disturbing actually!
What to do?
First of all, don’t store a photo of your recovery seed phrases in the cloud! Write it on a piece of paper instead or use something that you can remember easily. But don’t use something generic, but something only you could be able to know. And last but not least, always try to use two factor authentication for your wallets. That extra layer of safety makes your crypto a lot more secure!
Be careful out there people.
Sincerely,
