I heard about @worldmappin's #winterchallenge, but this one will not be eligible for additional points as it will not be about winter... š Despite living in a "mild climate" country, evenings and mornings can be cold... In my today's afternoon walk, the sun went behind the clouds and it wasn't so pleasant, especially as I put on my "summer clothes"... lol... So, to warm myself up, I searched in my photo collection for some nice summer walks to share today... š
The date is July, 26th, 2023, and we are somewhere in Lombardy, Italy... You can even see the town name, Sirmione, which is a huge attraction because of its location... It became famous because of the lake, Lago di Garda, which was our destination last summer, on our way back home... As you will see a lot of unusual photos for me in this one, I need to make an introduction to it...
Two weeks before that trip, there was some crazy weather in that part of Europe, and I had an unpleasant surprise when I was caught in the streets during the hailstorm, for which I created a post last year! Maybe a few days after that, even stronger hailstorm hit exactly the area around the Lago di Garda, from where you can follow these photos...
So, in this post (let's call it a teaser post), I will show you the streets of Sirmione on my way back from the Castello Scaligero di Sirmione that we visited... As parking space closer to the castle is very limited, we had to park far away... That was a great reason to enjoy the "ordinary" part of the town, which wasn't overcrowded with tourists...
Yes, I did a couple of photos of streets, and walking along so much greenery is always nice, compared to burned nature in Spain during the summer...
...and it's always nice to see these local shops that are selling typical products from that area... I don't know Italian, but that has to be wine... š š·
...when you see flowers by the sidewalk, then you know that the neighborhood is great and that they take care of the town...
What would be Italy without gelato? Pizza-only country? š
I found this terrace interesting as it was full of different things... I suppose that owners can't even go out and enjoy the view as there is no place to do it... lol...
As we were on the road back to Spain, these pinecones reminded me about our destination... Somehow, the pinecones that I found in Italy and France are usually much bigger than the ones that I found here in Spain... Not sure what's happening there... š
Oh, I forgot to explain why I did these weird car photos on my walk when I usually post nature-only photos... As I mentioned the hailstorm at the beginning, what you can see in these photos is a direct result of it! The ice cubes that were falling from the sky were so big that they damaged hundreds of cars (and some buildings too!)!
At the beginning, I thought that only "cheap" cars got damaged because of cheaper materials used in production, but you can see that it wasn't the case only for them... Windshields, headlights, rear lights, and even on the car hood you could see traces where ice cubes hit the cars (take a closer look above at the first few photos)...
As we were closing to the parking lot, we were getting closer to the lake too! There were no more houses and buildings and we had to go through a long park...
And in the end, some beautiful views of the Lago di Garda! Now when I see these photos, they remind me of Split, Croatia... The only difference is that it was a sea in Croatia, and this is "just" a lake... But it is a beautiful lake that you have to visit if you are going through that part of Italy!
I hope you enjoyed this #WednesdayWalk (it was indeed Wednesday when we took it!) and I hope I will not forget to share the rest of the photos that I have from this beautiful place where you will see the Castle, narrow streets of the old town, and more... Until the next one!
Thank you for your time,
