Recently, I read the post by @gadrian and we had a great discussion in the comment section of it, which moved my grey cells in may different direction... I have even mentioned to him that his post inspires me and that I will probably write a post on a similar topic... When I wrote that, I had one idea for the post... As time was passing and my brain was still thinking about that discussion, I had another idea for the post... In the end, after a day passed, here we are, with a completely different post, which was actually inspired by @mypathtofire's comment in the comment section of the same post... You gotta love HIVE and Hivians! 😃

I have to admit that sometimes (maybe too often), I have doubts about different things... Probably some of them aren't backed up by anything, but some of them are valid... I suppose that getting older and accumulating life experience doesn't help in believing things that we believed before... For example, in that discussion in the comment section, we were talking about economic growth, which usually means technological growth, and probably many other "advances"...

When I was younger, we learned about these things in Psychology, Philosophy, and Sociology books, trying to explain the human need to develop new things, to innovate, to make things better, etc. One of the explanations of WHY we are doing that is pure curiosity... We want to explore and research because we are curious... fair enough... could be...

Another explanation is that we want to make our lives easier, that we want to make this world a better place, so that can be the reason for innovation and growth... Another solid reason, but somehow, it's like 50-50% successful... Maybe our lives are easier than they were before, but did we succeed in making this world a better place to live?

In the end, here comes the kicker, which comes from my "negative side"... Is it possible that this growth is driven by human greed? That in the end, we just want more money? That we want to have more money than our neighbors, friends, or colleagues? Capitalism is based on money as the center of everything... Every product is created/invented/distributed because it is profitable, and not because it is "the best for the world", or we can go even further, "best for the consumer"...

Sorry for a bit of FUD blogging today, but for me, it looks like we are at a crossroads in these times... Does this world really have to be built around money? Isn't there a better solution? Even #MyHiveGoals are based on numbers, and tokens, which are some form of money... 😒

Back to those stinky #MyHiveGoals numbers... 2 weeks after the last report...

The chart is going up, which is always great to see... That big spike was the HivePUD, but the rest is all author, curation rewards, and a bit of everyday powering up HIVE!

The current HivePower number looks like it's rigged as at the moment of writing this post, it was almost exactly 91000! And to make things even more awkward, the amount of accumulated HP from 14 days ago, if I deduct the HivePUD 1K power-up, is exactly 666 HP! Wow! That's a bit scary too... 😃 lol... I was a bit more active lately (except the last 2 days, lol), but the ratio between my author and curation rewards is almost 50-50!! In the last 30 days, my author rewards were 712HP, and my curation rewards were 660HP! The snowball effect of curation is happening!

After reaching my monthly goal for SWAP.HIVE:LEN shares last month, I pulled the break on that one... As I got some cheap LENM tokens (having some opened buy orders is sometimes a good idea), I paired them with my LEN tokens in another pool... Because of that, not many LEN tokens left for this pool that I'm counting for #MyHiveGoals... Anyway, my LENM stack has depleted and I can focus again on this goal... 🙂 I did add a small amount of shares, but that will go up faster until the next report... :)

The finish line for my Rising Star yearly goal is closer and closer... In the last 2 weeks, I have added almost 440 cards to my collection, which means that I'm under 800 cards away from my yearly goal! This could happen in the next 4 weeks or less! I could reach my yearly goal in mid-August! I still have no plans to raise or not this goal, but I will probably do it as the end of the year is still far away... But, let's wait until 30K NFTs and then think about it... 😃

It looks like we are changing direction!!!! I hope this time it will last a bit longer... :)

Maybe our lives are easier than they were before, but did we succeed in making this world a better place to live?

Probably not but the thing is, the world that we want, might not be someone else's dream world. The more I learn, the more I came to know that culture despite globalism as we know today still plays a huge role in shaping those "perfect" dream worldviews. It's too simplistic to say that to make the world a better place and sometimes our standards are different.

That's why decentralization is a great idea in theory, but very hard idea to implement in real life... Everyone likes it as it sounds, but implementing it requires a lot of patience, understanding, tolerance, etc.

But, as "standards" are different, it's hard to find one size to fit all... I dislike globalism, so going "locally", and creating dynamic "dreams" is a better way to go... There is no perfect solution, for sure... but there are better solutions...

I think it is more about surviving and thriving. Money is just the means toward that end.

Greed is good :-)

Hehehehe... I agree that for some of us is about surviving... but for those who have "covered" that part is more than just that... 😂

Sure we want to make this world a better place, but some doesn't want it and turn the world into crisis from time to time.

I suppose that it's not that they don't want to, it's that they want to keep all the wealth for themselves, using the crisis to make themselves richer... 😒

So many people are not really concerned about the things that happened in the world
They can do anything for money as long as there will be money

Yeah, that's the main problem... When people would do anything for the money...

The world is moving towards an energy driven money and El Salvador is just the start of it. 1 Bitcoin per day from a volcano 🌋, no taxes or inflation, this could be the future as more energy sources that before couldn't be utilised, will now be used to benefit all of society potentially and not based on stealing. A central bank monetary system is also not capitalism imo.

I really hope that your words will come true one day... It would be great to have a "fair money"...

Fingers crossed.

Technological growth can indeed sometimes clash with our intentions to make the world better. This is something I've seen in old folks and I'm trying so hard to not do it, as life hits you, you can sometimes lose your ability to believe in what's possible and your abilities. It's not an easy reality I'll also admit

We will see what the will future bring... With blockchain tech and cryptocurrencies, we have a chance to do better... I hope we will use that...

Indeed brother I hope we use that chance

I think the world has always been like that. But in this diverse world, there are people who are motivated by curiosity, interested about the greater good, and to help others.

But in general, life happens, and it is more of a modern survival game.

Is capitalism a great economic system? Probably not, but other systems have been tried, and in practice I don't know any that has performed well on a large scale...

It's definitely not... and CURRENT other systems are similar, better for some, or worse... But, again... why not do the mix? create a new system? All current systems are "invented" at some time, so why wouldn't we invent something new? 🙂

EDIT: I have just realized that we are actually doing it at this very moment, experimenting with blockchain and crypto... It's happening!!! 🙂

Yep, we have an opportunity to try new things. Let's hope we have the chance before we transform into another copy of the world we live in, in the digital form.

That's exactly why we should look into the future, experimenting with new things, and not copying the past... :)

I agree, but as long as expenses are in fiat, this can be challenging.

Rome didn't fall in a day... 😃

Ah, the reverse quote! True as well.

Really interesting times we live in and pondering on the motives of why we do the things we do takes us to the messy side of human nature. I think certain emotions or driving forces like greed or fear can be good but only in moderation. The problem is for the most part we really don't have much control of these emotions, both individually and collectively, especially the latter.

What a great point of view! I like it!
Fear and greed are powerful emotions, but they are out of our control! Somehow, we need to find "better emotions" to lead us... 😃

Definitely! Perhaps, inspiration from a higher purpose or a sense of duty from serving the greater good.

Is it possible that this growth is driven by human greed?

I guess so, maybe not just for money, maybe for wealth, as some might want to have more lands and stuff like that. the power to compete to be the best from the other might also contribute to this, we want to be seen in a higher status than the other around us, which might push us to innovation. And thus sometimes lead us to crisis, as what we want might collide with other interests, and it rises conflict. In a larger scale, its a war that only lead by the mind of a single leader, but not what the common people want.

the power to compete to be the best from the other might also contribute to this, we want to be seen in a higher status than the other around us, which might push us to innovation.

These are at least 2 types of people... First which is not competing to be the BEST, but to be the richest, wealthiest...

And the second which do that, compete to be better, to create something good, to innovate... and those are the valuable people...

In a larger scale, its a war that only lead by the mind of a single leader, but not what the common people want.

That's 100% true... Most wars were happening because of 1-2 hot heads... 😞

Thank you very much for your kind words! It's always a pleasure to find a fellow Hivian who is thinking and doing similar things...

In our current society, people do specific parts so I do think that there needs to be some currency that people use to trade. I just don't see ourselves going back to the previous system unless people want to be self-sufficient on a farm somewhere.

Going back makes no sense at all, but exchanging the current fiat system with a better one makes sense... Maybe crypto in some way can do that, but we still didn't find the perfect "setup", or BTC is?

That in the end, we just want more money?

What many tend to forget is that the money is not the ultimate end. Probably they want money to have a better lifestyle, to have more friends, to have more free time. Even if greed seems to be one of the big motivators, it's just because the person behind it, has forgotten his ultimate motifs I believe :-)

Amen!
I blame the media for brainwashing and pushing "money values" in the first rows, instead of promoting long-term values...

Great to see the steady growth of your account. It must be encouraging to see your yearly goals progressing so well. Keep it up!

Thank you! It is nice to see that the plan is still ON and the numbers are going up! 🙂
