It was a perfect morning for an outdoor walk, and I had decided to explore the regional protected landscape of the Vila do Conde coastline and the mindelo ornithological Reserve. I woke up early, to make the most of the day.

As I made my way to the start of the trail, the sky was already a stunning shade of blue, with only a few wispy clouds scattered here and there. The air was fresh, carrying with it the faint scent of the sea and the earthy aroma of the nearby pine forests.

The early hour meant that I had the path almost entirely to myself, save for the occasional bird that fluttered by or the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore. As I walked, I could hear the soft crunch of the sand beneath the boardwalk and the gentle rustling of the grasses that lined the path.

Turning my gaze inland, the landscape changed dramatically. Here, the dunes gave way to a mosaic of wetlands, forests, and meadows, each with its own unique character and beauty. The Mindelo reserve, in particular, was a haven for birdlife, and even from this distance, I could see flocks of birds moving gracefully through the sky or wading in the shallow waters of the wetlands.

Voltando o meu olhar para o interior, a paisagem mudou dramaticamente. Aqui, as dunas deram lugar a um mosaico de zonas húmidas, florestas e prados, cada um com o seu carácter e beleza únicos. A reserva do Mindelo, em particular, era um refúgio para a avifauna e, mesmo a esta distância, pude ver bandos de aves a moverem-se graciosamente pelo céu ou a vadear nas águas pouco profundas das zonas húmidas.
The path continued to follow the coastline, where the boardwalk meandered along the sandy dunes, keeping me close to the sea. The gentle sound of the waves provided a soothing backdrop as I walked and the salty breeze from the ocean was invigorating.

The coastal landscape was stunning, with the sunlit sea on one side and the undulating dunes on the other. The boardwalk elevated me slightly above the dunes, offering uninterrupted views of the ocean stretching out to the horizon. The fresh, briny air, mixed with the occasional scent of the seaweed washed ashore, heightened the sensory experience of being so close to the water.

Even though I didn’t venture inland, the coastal scenery was captivating enough to keep me fully engaged. The contrast between the vibrant blue of the ocean, the golden hues of the sand, and the green of the dune vegetation created a visually stunning experience that perfectly encapsulated the beauty of the coastline.

Returning to the starting point, I took a moment to look back at the path I had walked. The sun was now high in the sky, casting a bright light over the landscape. The temperature was still pleasant, the breeze still gentle. It was the kind of day that made you want to linger, to soak in the beauty for just a little longer.
