Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
I have had fun exploring the Emerald Coast reserve. It is a massive map with many outposts to be explored and unlocked for quick travels. I had been hunting in there with only the multiplayer sessions and you are not in total control of the map and can't change the time if you are not a host. Also, I would hunt in only a few hotspots that I was too comfortable with, but now that I have the DLC map and can play as long as I want in offline mode with changing time if required, I can enjoy it even more and take it slowly.
I still prefer to use an ATV if I am planning to go to a faraway place and unlock an outpost there.
Even though the landscape is quite arid in these plains, it does rain a lot here or perhaps I was getting a bit unlucky. I don't have any issues with the rain, it helps me dampen the noise from my footsteps but makes the game a bit more laggy for me.
But look at the weather on a morning when the sky was all covered with clouds. I took these shots from the top of a high watch tower.
The central region is not as dense with vegetation which gives us better hunting opportunities with long-range weapons. I love to take pictures of interesting trees.
An interesting thing happened when I was crisscrossing the reserve using an ATV. A big group of Fallow deer just crossed the dirt road in front of me. One of them hit me while I was sitting in the vehicle and gave me some damage too. I stopped immediately to take my revenge and get some cool shots.
I took a few shots of them running across this dirt road. I love this next one where you can see a female trying her best to get out of this awkward situation.
Many others followed her. I drew my rifle and took a shot at one of them. It was not an easy one but I managed to hit one of them. It wasn't a good shot but good enough to take it down slowly.
I hunted with Beril here too and as always she went after her arch nemesis, the Banteng. She claimed she got a diamond one but I am not sure.
On the further east, there is a big coastline controlled by the dangerous Saltwater Crocodiles. They love to bathe in the sun on the beaches during the afternoon. On sensing danger they quickly turn to the water. But once in a while, someone will get aggressive and try to attack you.
You can spot them easily on these beaches but when they are in the swamps, then they become quite deadly. They blend well with the surroundings and love to hang around in the shallow water and if you are not careful they will jump on you and attack you.
This adds a lot to the thrill of hunting them. Bows are handy when taking care of them without spooking others.
These swamps are on both edges of the maps on the eastern shoreline. If you go further inland from there, there is a vast open plain where you will find Banteng and other animals roaming around in groups. I love to hunt Sambar, Red deer and Fallow deer.
Me and I are in love with this area. Perfect for taking down animals from long distances. Look at how Sheru sees the sky because you will find a lot of birds flying over your head and landing close to those swamps and the coastline. But these buggers are not easy to hunt. They have much better senses than the turkeys found in some of the other maps in the game.
There are a lot of unique outpost designs this map has, ranging from a big place consisting of tens of houses to a small one-room accommodation like that. Sometimes there are trailers or tree house designs.
Another interesting detail you will find here is the occasional hot air balloon found floating in the sky. I have seen them close to the coastline. I will leave you with a nice view of the landscape with a highly saturated hot air ballon just gently floating in the sky.
That's all for this time. Let me know which one was your favourite shot. I loved the shot where the Crocodiles are just chilling on the beach and probably having a nice conversation with each other. I had to get real close to them to get a good clean view of this.
