Some few days ago, a friend of mine made the decision to quit drinking and doing anything drug related and this was due to a near death experience that he had, one he described as scary and eye-opening.
So this friend of mine who usually always enjoys having alcohol in his system had decided to take it a step further. Just like me, he hated the taste of alcohol but enjoyed the highness feeling he always got from consuming the product, so he had decided to look for an alternative to getting high that didn't involve him consuming alcohol, and that was when he decided to give marijuana a try.
Now I know that I said he quit doing anything drug related but the truth is that he was never a drug addict (or a constant drug user) to begin with, just an alcoholic who always was open to trying other stuff, which was what he did with the marijuana.
You see, rather than smoke it like most people would do, someone had told him that cooking it with some rice would give him some really nice feeling, so he had done just that. He had bought some marijuana and boiled it with rice, then he ate the whole thing.
The only problem with that combination was the fact that he had used more weed than he should have, and this was probably because it was his first time so he had no idea as to what he was doing.
Well, he had consumed the rice and as expected he got high, too high for him to control. And what was even more scary was the fact that no one knew about what he did, so we all were in our various rooms, oblivious to the fact that he was struggling for his life in his room.
Apparently, he had gotten so high that he didn't know what he was doing anymore, and when he got up to go make use of the toilet, he fell to the floor and couldn't get up.
It wasn't until the next day when he told us the story and showed us the scars on his back, due to how he had landed from that fall. According to him, he had almost lost his life that night due to the fact that he had almost hit his head on his bedstand but had narrowly escaped it and had hit it with his back instead, which was where the terrible wound was located.
Listening to the way he told the story and him vowing never to get high anymore made me realize how serious what happened to him was, and how close we all were to getting arrested...because if he had died, I probably would have been writing this from prison.
