A foolish person is someone who doesn't learn from someone else's mistake, or even worse, from his own mistake.
During this time of the year last year, I and my friends had all made plans of remaining back in school and not traveling back home, so that we could all spend the holiday together. So I had called my dad and convinced him that it will be better I stayed back and he had agreed.
So for me, everything was set, it was going to be a fun filled holiday with my friends but then I got to find out the hard way why it's never a good idea to put your hope on man. One by one my friends began to come up with excuses why they had to travel home...it was either they received a phone call from their mom or they were having family meeting and needed to be present there.
It continued like that until I found myself all alone at the hostel, regretting why I had trusted them in the first place.
Well fast forward to October of this year and whispers about the holidays was being heard here and there, with everyone making their own plans. As usual, they had come to ask me if I was traveling or was going to stay back and I had told them that I was traveling.
As expected, the majority of them began to talk about how they have no plans of traveling because there was nothing back home for them to go back to, but I didn't care..once bitten twice shy.
So irrespective of whatever it was they said to me, my mind was already made up that I was traveling back home, I didn't care if the entire hostel decided to stay back, I was leaving.
But unfortunately, the price of transportation skyrocketed and plans had to change. I decided that the money could be used to do something a lot more important than me spending it all on transportation, so once more, I had to change my travel plans.
Now this didn't entirely feel sad for me because after all, all of the boys had sworn that they weren't going anywhere this holiday... Well guess what, they lied.
But unlike last year, I'm not entirely surprised because I expected it. I guess it just goes further to make me understand how unwise it is to put your trust on any man, even if they swear on their life.
