When we talk about improvement, what comes to your mind? Perfection. Looking great. Adding value to yourself. Every human being wants a change and this can't be done while sitting on a spot and expecting a change. Change is constant and everyone keeps changing from old ways into a new one and we call this an improvement.
Let's take a look at some ways to improve ourselves, especially becoming the better person we want to be because no one wants to remain stuck but to bring peace to themselves.
Stop discussing your personal life with every second person.
You have every right to your privacy and no one should intrude into it except you allow it. Having the right to your privacy is an ability to determine when, how and for what purpose you want your personal information to be handled by others.
Privacy is everything, tell them what is necessary.
The truth is that there are things you should keep to yourself instead of telling others and putting your life in their hands because when the time comes, the person you believe to have trusted will use it against you. Some people cannot keep your secret even if you tell them to. Our mouths are wired to speak anytime depending on the situation on the ground and when words come out of your mouth, it is like an egg that once broken, can never be fixed again.
A tip to protect your privacy is to limit the personal information you share with other people and keep it to yourself. This is one way to have peace.
Though we expose some details intending to make the other person learn from it which is better, when it is being shared with the wrong people, they would use it against you someday which may cause problems later. It is not everyone that needs to know things about us.
The only time a secret is shared to learn from them is when the other person is trying to go in the way you already went and not wanting them to make such mistakes, you guide them through your experience and how you were able to overcome and become who you are.
But when your information goes into the wrong hands, it taints your personality which makes you look stupid ever revealing yourself to them. Keep your personal information to yourself and if you must think of talking to someone, make sure you have studied and observed such a person and if you are still convinced, then talk to your siblings or someone in your family. Family will protect you no matter what happens.
Stop trying to please everyone. You are valuable too.
We all deserve the best in life and we don't want to be controlled by anyone. We all know that in this life, you can never please everyone because their opinions about you would bring you down and make you think you aren't perfect. People want to know everything about you. They are happy pushing you to the front, to the back and taking a lead in your life and if you are not careful, you become an idiot who can't take charge of his or her life.
Be honest with yourself, your opinions and your work in general. Don't make people think you aren't good at what you do. Don't let them see you as a coward but take your work so dearly without anyone's criticism. You need to be honest with yourself and not let people's opinions dictate your life. There is a value deposited in you. Don't let them thrash it.
Learn to love yourself. If you do not learn to love yourself, no one will. There is great importance in seeing yourself as the best and appreciating the person you have become. If you think you aren't good enough, they will see you as that. If you think you have nothing to offer, then be ready for them to see you that way. You must value yourself because you are special.
Take care of yourself. No matter how little your income is, try to take care of yourself, take yourself out for fun and do not let people take advantage of you. When you value yourself, no one will disvalue you. You are very important and you should treat yourself like an angel.
Believe in yourself. The best achievement in life is to believe in yourself because when you do, no one will take you to be weak. According to Roy T. Bennett, he said and I quote, "Believe in your infinite potential. Your only limitations are those you set upon yourself".
You can never identify your potential if you place people to give you opinions about you. Going to meet them every time would make you depressed except for those who truly see greatness in you and want you to succeed. You will only limit yourself when you put others to validate you. Stop waiting for them but believe in yourself that you have enough potential and you should be ready to unleash them out and see how fulfilled you are.
Whatever you do, do it with confidence because that is a way to give yourself importance. Some may term your self-importance as ego and they may feel like talking behind you. If you think you are losing them and because of that try bringing yourself to them, trying to please them and make them order your life, that is the end.
You will continue to be subjected under their lead and from there, you lose your confidence and ruin your potential. Stay away from those who do not see value in you but want to keep giving wrong and negative opinions, trying to make you lose focus and stop being creative.
People are good at criticizing your work but are not ready to correct things for you. They don't want to see you progressing. You need to believe in what you do only by then would you scale through because there wouldn't be any limitations to your success or breakthrough.
