Missing Out On The Comfortability of Using a Private Car

I wouldn't want to say a law that will restrict every family to have access to just one car is a harsh one without thinking about its effect: how much good it will bring and how much bad it will do to the citizens.

Those days, I used to think only men were able to drive cars because we used to see only the fathers with car while the mothers will sit in front and the children at the back. I was naive then thinking women don't own a car hence just one car for a family. The whole family depends on the schedules of the man, everyone has to work with the same time with him so as to be able to get conveyed to necessarily locations. It was later I knew women actually drive cars and own them.

If such law is passed that one family can only own a car then we will have way less vehicles on roads. It will help reduce the traffic on many busy roads, like some roads in Lagos, Nigeria where you sometimes have to hit the road 2,3 or 4 hours ahead of the usual time just to get to your destination early. The rate of petroleum consumption will also decrease thereby saving up more for the future. Another good thing that this law will permit is that it would reduce the amount of air pollution caused by vehicles. Vehicles pollute the air from the toxic gases released from the exhaust pipe, these gases are produced when fuel is being burnt in a vehicles engine. Examples of these toxic gases are carbon dioxide CO2, carbon monoxide CO, sulfur dioxide SO2.

The other side is this, if the law is passed, there will be much limitations in terms of transportation. Imagine couples who work at different places and would need seperate cars to get to work early, especially when the way to their workplace doesn't share same route. The whole family member will have to always consider their schedule and try to fix it to whine the car will be available for all, which is something hard to come by. Almost everybody will be missing out on the comfort that comes with using a private car: Using public transport can be so uncomfortable sometimes, you can't sit like you want, stop by somewhere because everyone has a specific bus stop. What about someone who owns a private car but runs a company that needs two or more cars ?.

This law won't give a balanced solution unless there are more organise and controlled public transportation systems. Without this, I think it will only make life hard for people. Nothing beats having a personal car or having more than just one. Imagine waking up and ready for work but your only car has developed a fault over night. Now you'd have to use the public transport because you don't have right to have more than a car. I know how it feels when the family has just one car. There are countless days I or the whole family would need to do something that requires a car but we can't access one because my dad has gone out with his car. It can be frustrating. Days when my mom would be restocking her shop and needs a personal car to move the goods from market to the shop. One would have suggested having an agreement with someone with a car but it would cost more money because it takes a lot of time find what to buy, carry it from inside market to the park and arranging them inside the car. There are many inconveniences that this law would cause.

Thank you for reading to the end
