RICE AND CHICKEN IS MY BUDGET-FRIENDLY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION…

in #hive-1106011 days ago

i just couldn’t help but jump on this topic the moment i spotted it. There is this strong force that pulled me in immediately i read the brief, and as the festive season is almost here, topics like this are just the right thing to talk about. We need to be more enlightened on topic like this because a lot will happen during this festive season and after it has ended, what will happen after the big celebration upfront is solely dependent on your present actions, if you know you know and if you understand you understand…

Let’s dive right into what i have for you all today and that to without wasting too much time on irrelevant points. I hope you all will permit me to use this popular ”Yoruba Proverb” in my post today. As a proud Yoruba man, proverb is everything to us and there is just that right proverb for every occurrence in our world, but then fret not as i will be translating this particular proverb in English to help those who don’t understand the Yoruba version. I am sure my nigerian brethren won’t find this proverb odd because it’s a common one…

The best proverb that describes today topic is; ”SE BI OTI MO ELEWA SAPON”. This particular proverb means ”always stay within your capacity(budget) at all times to avoid unwanted and unpleasant situations afterwards”. Don’t because of a day’s celebration go beyond what you can afford, don’t try to impress others by going to the extreme, especially when you know the size of your pocket and your worth. Always stay within the size of your pocket to avoid storm afterwards…

Imagine going to a loan company to collect a loan of one million naira to celebrate the upcoming Christmas and New year when you know you have no means of paying back. Spending that much wouldn’t be a problem if the money was coming from your pocket. It only becomes a problem when you have no means to pay back, so instead of doing more than yourself just to compete with those who truly have the money, why not just do the little bit you can and have a guaranteed peace of mind after the festive period and let trouble rest…

The funniest thing about this whole Christmas and New year coming up is that many people will go over their budget, not only will they go over their budgets, they will end up borrowing more money to enjoy the festivities largely, simply because they want a grand celebration…

Why do you have to be financially broke after the festive celebrations, this will happen if you mismanage the funds you have or if you are the type that loves going overboard with refreshments and entertainments. Celebrating Christmas and New year in a grand manner is not a must. There is no rule stating that you exceed your limits to celebrate Christmas and New year. Christmas is meant to be celebrated small and that too with family, i see large celebrations as a means to brag…

The best way to avoid financial brokeness next year is be maintain a strict budget plan. Cut your cloak according to your size. If it’s beans and plantain you can afford for the celebrations, eat it with your family and move on. If it’s chicken and rice you can afford, then prepare it and enjoy with your family. Don’t for any reason go beyond what you can afford. Don’t borrow money to celebrate the festivities, it will hunt you afterwards…

I don’t fall into the post Christmas and New year broke as nigga category. I just enjoy myself the little way i can in my house. There is no going over budget. If there’s money for new clothes, i will get them and if there isn’t money, I will wear what i have and enjoy my day my own way. It is not a must to eat chicken and wear new clothes, wear what you can afford and eat what you have…

In summary, i will be on strict budget this festive season, i am not spending excessively. Rice, chicken, Salad and Soft drink is enough. There’s No chicken, turkey, fish and the likes. If possible I might just postpone everything lol. I have a lot of bills awaiting me next year January so going out of budget is not in the option…

In conclusion, do what you can afford and stop comparing yourself to those who you know have bigger pockets than you. If you run with them, you will end up hurting yourself later on…
