🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

  • fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
  • coelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried

One spring, I organized a tour of the forest to show and talk about the birds living in it. There were about 13 people and we walked along the route I had drawn up and on the way we came across different birds.
And so we saw how this chaffinch in the photo flew from the tree to the ground to eat. He most likely found old seeds thawed from under the snow on the ground.

This is interesting, because we were close to him in a crowd, and he was not afraid of us and continued to search for food. I noticed that when these birds are hungry and go down, they don’t seem to care about safety. but when they are busy with other things and are in the trees, you can’t get so close to them.
In the third photo there is a female, she was nearby.
