🦉 The little ringed plover (Charadrius dubius)
- Charadrius Greek: kharadra gorge, ravine, kharadrios nocturnal bird mentioned in the Bible
- dubius (lat.) doubtful, unclear
These little sandpipers are the size of a sparrow. When they arrive and where they live I don't know, as I have never met them within the city. Our meetings usually take place in mid-July, when the chicks of these birds go off to explore the world and learn from their parents. However, it is not difficult to guess that the habitats of these birds are sandy and pebble shores.
The bird is practically invisible among the rocks due to the color of its plumage merging with the background. Plus, these birds often stand in one place for a long time. They literally take a few steps and then look around. Then they take a few more steps and stand again.
