🦉 The citrine wagtail (Motacilla citreola)
- Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
- citreola lat .: citrus, citreus citrus, citreolus lemon color
These birds live in wet meadows. And every year I go to the steppes and always meet them in the same place, not far from the city. This is a flooded meadow with ponds and bushes. These birds constantly either walk along the slope of a small hill or spend time in the bushes.
Apparently, it arrives early, but I don’t know exactly when, because there are none in my region. It feeds on invertebrates, collecting them on the ground or at the water’s edge.
