I think if there is more activity it is purple and if itd grey it is still active but not so frequented?
Not entirely shure. I know that after 12 hours it becomes inactive.

Thanks for guessing! I´m not the best to explain such things as it´s new to me too. :D But as far as I understand you use a threadcast if you want oppinions of people. For example people do a daily Tech threadcast, where everyone can post the lastest tech news in the replies.
