Hello fellow needleworker, I love to share my latest needlework project with you all. I know we’ve all been in situations where we've felt like we have nothing to wear, even though our closet is full of clothes. Last week, my sister and I were about to go out and I realized that I didn't have any casual outfits. Most of my clothes are not so casual and I don't like looking overdressed.
As a sewist, it would only cost me some fabric and a few materials to make something casual for myself. So, I decided to make a pair of casual pants. I had this leftover fabric that had been sitting in my stash for a while now, and I thought it would be perfect for this project.
These pants are inspired by that feeling of having nothing to wear haha. Anyways, they're just a regular pair of casual pants and nothing too serious. I wanted a very loose pant, but after sewing, I was a little disappointed because they weren't as loose as I wanted them. However, I love the fit.
These pants were easy to make. I made it at night. It took me 3 hours or less plus the fact that I had to snap my progress.
Material used:
1.5 yards of silk crepe fabric
A matching colour thread
1 yard of Elastic (2 inches wide)
The process
I start by cutting the front and back pieces. The back piece is wider and longer than the front. I added an extra 2.5 inches for the elastic band.
I cut the side pockets
I sew the crotch (the curve part) of the front and back piece.
I then join the inseams of the front and back pieces together
I joined the sides leaving a 7-inches allowance for the pocket.
I sew the pocket as well, leaving a 7-inches allowance
I sew the pocket to the sides of the pants
I fold 2.5 inches for the band. I left about a 1-inch allowance for inserting the elastic.
I cut and inserted the elastic into the band and sewed the opening I left
I hemmed the bottom of the pants
I iron again and this is the final look
I paired it with the zipper polo top I made recently and I love how it looks.
I hope you love it as much as I do.
Thank you for visiting my blog and stay creative ❤️✂️*
